ok on the long and short side of ball joint lives. how long are they supposed to last either way ? and by the way, I got the spindles on, deff need an alignment..left wheel is turned a few inches left and the right is turned right...
spindles should not have affected the toe adjustment. i thought belltech were supposed to be better! i use chassistech spindles and have never needed an alignment after install.
After I installed my 2" Belltech drop spindles I had the same issue! I did a simple toeboard adjustment a few times and then got it aligned, Guess I was good at it, I was only out 2 complete turns on the drivers side. Basically what you do is measure the distance in front of the wheel ( at a tire specific point ) and then repeat on the backside of the tie with the exact same spot ( mark with white marker or tape ) and then turn the tie rod ends on the relay rod accordingly. On mine, I had 3 - 4 threads left or all the way in before adjustment was found. FYI - If you gots the cash, replace the tie rod ends at this time regardless of condition ( unless they are new ) because " Why do it twice ". . . Need help, IM me. . .
sounds good, I got the same info from a neighbor today just ran out of daylight. I will adjust it myself to where its driveable again, buy all the things I need to bag my truck, get that squared off and replace all my old suspension parts.. which basicly is tie rod ends and 1 lower ball joint and my stabilizer shock... everything else is new...
when i do a toe adjustment i like to jack up the tire and spin it. use some white spray paint and spray the tire as its rotating. then use a block of wood and a standard screwdriver to scribe a line in the center of the paint. use the lines to measure the toe. it makes it almost fool proof.
its easy, spray the tire as it spins. it will produce roughly a 1" wide area of paint on the tread all the way around. then put the screwdriver on the wood and spin the tire while rubbing it with the end of the screwdriver producing a thin black line where the paint is rubbed off. then measure the distance between the lines front and rear. remember if the difference is say 1" you only need to adjust in .5".
if anything man, adjust the wheels till they "feel" straight driving down the road and take it to an alighnment shop...... it'll be easier to do.... alighnment is not all that expensive and usually most places give you ~30-90 day warranties on alighnment.
maybe this will help javi, i know its crude but its as best as i can do. i have aligned alot of cars in the driveway using this method.
ahhh ok, im not going to do that, i adjusted it today ill have it done at a shop if it will make it up the ramp lol
