I know 3.9s were common, but its almost not worth the change from a 4.10. Hell, maybe I'll try a 3.07  I should top out about 150

That's the same tag from a rear I pulled off a 92 2wd, w55 trans... Toysports guide shows it as "F" code 3:30, 2 pinion...

    I just installed that diff I pulled in my 82 but, I counted 43-ring gear / 12-pinion = 3:58

Blew up the small spider gears in my 4:10 diff lastnight... Raffi is one up on me now...

BYE: you must have counted wrong. a 43/13 is 3.30 like you said the tag told you it was.

93: you have 3.58 gears, in a 7.5" axle. In late 93 they went to a new numbering system for the rearends. The F code 7.5s became the A code. Same rear end, different labeling system. So if you wanted to swap to 4.10s, I would suggest getting an 8" G or B code housing at the junkyard, and I have a center section for it. I've blown up 7.5s with a mostly stock truck in my 92. Get the larger rearend.

my truck theoretically tops out at 187mph.

    1. that's using the A43D automatic, and if it shifts into 4th at WOT
    2. that's using the 3.73
    3. that's using the factory tires
    4. the 22re doesn't put out enough to hit 187mph.

Nope. Not even close in stockish form. My 92 took about a minute to get from 100-120, and that was with a 5 speed, k&n filter in the box, and some sort of slightly better exhaust. With 24" tires. Sooo....yeah, you won't hit 187 in your truck ever.

just so you guys know........ from 88 and up the rear ends were also wider than the older tricks by 1.5 inches. not sure why but they are. at least the 7.5's were. ive been lookin around to swap over to a lower ger set since the 3:07's stretch my gears waaaaay out (as you can tell from the video's)

at one point before i swapped all the induction stuff around...... the truck would top out at (not by rev limit but horse limit) at a wtf speed of 122mph. (verified by GPS) .............. (truck rides incredibly smooth at that speed by the way  )

the only bad part was the aerodynamics come into play and the truck no longer had any more umph to get past that mark. i was pacing a dodge charger drafting but soon as i pulled to pass the truck no longer had the extra kick to get past when the air hit the front of the truck.

im very curios to see what it will tap out at now........

Exactly. These motors have a hard time pushing any past that point roughly. I've had my 78 there a few times, and thats all shes got cap'n. With 4.10s, it was a rev thing. I think with the extra power and slightly taller gears I could get to 130ish. And it might seem slow as far as sports car or built compacts go...but we are in effin minitrucks!

And I have been thinking alot about adjusting some camber out lately. It grabs road ruts too hard on most the freeways here. I'd be interested to see how it handles with less. Tire wear should improve too.

I know I counted 12 on the pinion (counted it 3-times)....

I got the same data as 93: AO1A, so if his is 3:58 so is mine...
