if you did an RB motor, i know the rb26 somehow has the front differential grafted into the motor? should help suck up smaller to fit in the engine bay

Yeah the Vw motors have the tranny/diff and they d be a good fit but they are expensive as far as the awd system goes

Yeah, it's because I saw a 5.7L from the Tundra at the local Showroom floor and the motor looked HUGE.

How low do you plan to go?

AWD R32/3/4's have a awd system like a traditional 4wd vehicle does. Separate front diff i believe.

I wanna use STI AWD transmission, would be sick.

    Nothing wrong with that.
I lined my truck up next to my friend's STI before and the angle of the front wheels to the transmission seems to be similar to the Subaru's. that is if i wanted to retain the AWD. Pretty neat, i just wonder how to fit that flat wide engine with our frames lol.

Another idea is the Toyota RAV4 4WD Sport V6. 269hp, 244 torque. They are really quick. I drove one on our lot.

I did some searching and the rav4 v6 is a 2grfe which is a pretty good platform I just need to find a wrecked one so I can measure it. But Id still like to find a 5spd for it.... If they exist

    CR-V drivetrain!!!

But really I just think your being impractical.

Why not buy a 4wd truck, lower it, put some limited slips in it, and the biggest motor you can fit?

That would be MUCH easier than grafting a front wheel drive based suspension onto your RWD frame.

Mostly because I ve never seen one and I think it's a cool idea. I had thought about doing the 4x4 route but I want it lower then that and it's fun project

I like the commitment to the idea.

The 2GR-FE is a great motor. Mom's 07V6XLE is a beast with it, even for a +3300lb car it was tested doing the 1/4mile in 14.5!

    Thank you!

I'm hoping that the 2gr will still be fun. I'm hoping that it will since these trucks are so light

saw a guy that put a 4x4 ford ranger on a 2wd frame. still had all the 4x4 equipment and worked. but it wasn't dropped. i can't see how it would. i'd figure the front axels would bind up with a drop.

If I'm correct, the Taco's use the 4.0L version of the GR family, 1GR I think? I can't recall.
