Are you running an A340 or A43? I built a Jeep AW4/A340 hybrid with a paddle shifter in my wheeler and I'd modified the valve body and accumulators so it BOOTED when it shifted.

I keep thinking I need to build another one for my 84. Not sure why it was just a fun trans.

Exactly. I don't think I'll have any issues. Yes, the 8" is obviously a better axle, but it's a light 2wd daily driven pickup.

It's the A43d. I have a friend that specializes in Toyota transmissions. Turns out that it's really a stout little auto, similar in build to a 700r4 (I'm told).

We are likely going to change the weights out in the governor to get it to shift higher in the RPM range, as it max's out around 5700 revs. Since the engine is built to rev to 8500 or so, it should put down some decent numbers up there.

Exactly what I was thinking, guess Ill have to get a trutrac for my 7.5. First and second gear became useless with the boost. I have a welded diff in another 3rd but not sure I wanna kill tires.

Apparently, they are also for consistent quarter mile times and all around usefulness.

I'd take a built auto over a manual any day. There's no possible way to shift faster than an auto can. But on a side note I do like to through the gears around. :waytogo:

No doubt that a manual is more fun. But I don't lose boost for a millisecond between shifts. :D

Damn! Your truck moves! Very good consistent boost. That's one thing I loved when I had my Cummins and an auto behind it. No loss of power at a boosted launch that is ha ha. :waytogo:

In case anyone needs a comparison map for timing.

Still advancing the timing in boost slowly. I am running water Methanol injection, so keep that in mind when advancing the timing up top.

Awesome! I saw those, but decided to get the Eaton Trutrac helical. That way I don't have to find an unwelded carrier.

By the time I got the clean carrier and the insertable locker, I was already more than the Eaton.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll post up some pics later of the install. Going out now to work on it.

I got this from Summit Racing for $439 or something like that. You'll need a set of bearings from the dealership, part number 90368-50006. Not sure what it crosses to yet, as I haven't found it elsewhere. They are from the front diff of a 2002 4runner.

    It's awesome.

BTW... LC Engineering... I love them for what they do, and I'm not against capitalism, but they wanted $700 for seemingly the same carrier.

Maybe it was different, but they say it requires the use of new side bearings and Eaton doesn't list one for the rear of a 2wd. Soooooo, yeah. Was a bit disappointed in them. The front diffs were $550ish and the rear is $700? Really odd.

jus use a mk2 supra barring on one side and reg 2wd baring on he other if I recall.

That diff was made for the Toyota mk2 supra if I recall.

down fall is they shear teeth at about 550 600 with grippy tires torq range

No, it uses the bearings from a 2002 4runner IFS non ADD diff and was made for the same. The bearing has a different ID and is larger in diameter, so the bearing race is thinner to keep the OD the same.

Eaton doesn't list one for a Supra in the 7.5" ring and pinion.... Not that it won't fit though.

If I get to 550 hp with my 22re I don't care if the carrier fails. :D

REDZ, no clutches. It uses helical cut side gears to impart a lateral force on the sides of the carrier which causes drag whenever one wheel tries to spin faster than the other.
