No, sorry. The numbers move when I push the reset, but the odometer and trip don't actually count up. When I push the reset, they just twitch a bit. Because it's already zeroed.

No, my old cluster wasn't an SR5. That's why I'm so excited about this one.

I had it apart, but everything looks legit.

The welded diff isn't bad at all. I'm ordering a helical geared LSD, but aside from the tire wear, I wouldn't worry about dailying it the way it is. (I do)....

If I remember right the trutrac units are front/rear specific so be sure to ask when ordering.

I don't understand putting $.05 into a 7.5" anyway when the 8" is plentiful, gears are readily available in higher and lower ratios and it is nearly bomb proof in a 2x application.

Edit: rear 7.5" trutrac is #911A445. Front 7.5" trutrac is #911A342. The 8" front/rear numbers are different also.

Both of those part numbers are listed as 4wd IFS carriers. The difference is the bearing ID size. Use the right bearings, and either will work. Only the ADD carrier is supposedly not a direct fit from what I can find.

And sure the 8" makes sense when you don't have to source 5 lug axle shafts and refabricate all of the 4 link brackets.

The 7.5" is plenty strong for most power applications in a 2wd. I'll let you know if it doesn't work out. :D

The shafts come with the housings. I have one in my 89 and one out of an 87 that may end up in my 84 if I ever get around to it. They are found in 4 speed equipped trucks.

Good luck with the 7.5, link brackets are easy.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind if I ever blow this one up.

Is it common to destroy one?

Start banging gears and catch traction at the wrong time and yes they'll eat the ring gear. The 7.5 case is thin so it allows the pinion to deflect from the ring gear. Even the standard 4 cylinder 8" case is stronger and the V6 case is thicker with more webbing so deflection is mitigated.

Wow. Doesn't seem to come up much for being such a serious problem.

I'm making about 105 to the flywheel, I wonder how long it'll last.

    And my diff is welded....

It is an auto, but the mods we've done to it make the shift absolutely firm. Even so, I imagine the auto helps significantly.

I haven't gone through any third members this last year. Come to think of it, I've never had one go bad.

I'm not arguing against any of what you guys are saying, I'm just not seeing it.
