That would be the 4 AG engine and I think the AE86 Corolla/Trueno had that same engine. Only it was mounted in the front of the car. Where as the MR2 had it mounted in back. So I would imagine you would look for one of those transmissions.

My brother is the MR2 expert, but i do believe when they do 20v swaps in truenos, they keep the transmission. Not 100% sure though.

You got pics of that Surf greg? i love those things.

    (sorry for thread jacking)

You'd have to get the 4A-GE and rwd transmission from the AE85/6's. Finding the actual 4A-GE is pretty tough.

So, started the bed floor project...

Got the bed for $50 from the local pull and pick... Pretty rough.

Wedged into place, that was a trick. I decided to leave parts of the existing floor and mounts so as to minimize the possibilities of causing too much damage to the sub frame. Also, by doing this, I didn't have to build new mounts for the bed.

Everything was welded and seam sealed.

Got dark again. Funny how that happens. You can kinda see the filler plate for the rear of the bed.

And finally, reassembled. I was so ready to have the bed back on the truck. Took about two weeks to get done. I'd like to fab up some inner fenders for it, but we'll see.

That turned out great. I like how to kept a "factory" floor and it looks stock. Would have been cool if on the filler plate you made it look like the floor. Nice work. Can't wait to see more interior work done.

Thanks, yeah I had thought about that. The only problem with the ribs is that they transition into a flat surface at the rear, so then to keep with that look, the smooth sheet worked out better. My buddy wants me to stick a pair of weatherproof mids in that plate though (probably won't go that route...). :)

Ha! Yeah, that got put on hold for the bed. The new door pods are almost done, just need to finish sand them and get them to paint. I also need to build my center console, haven't started that.

So, my buddy Charlie painted these for me, and helped straighten out a few bits of the body work that I couldn't figure out. I built an LED circuit for the gauges and changed the color to red for night vision purposes. Wow, too much to comment on right now. Let me know if you have questions...
