thanks for the advice. i already checked everything out yesterday with my voltometer. when the lights on my dash go off, the battery (while running) charges ~12-14 volts (optimal) but when the lights on my dash are on, it drops back down to ~10-11 volts. i'm not 100% sure what the hell is causing my dash lights to come on and off though pulling the whole front end off tomorrow morning bright and early to dig into this. it's pissing me off. might end up molding my bumper and lower valance together too. im not sure who's thread had the how-to on this, but i think it looks awesome. if not, another bumper/lower valance is available @ pick-a-part
its just one truck...? but thanks! i think my alternator done died on me, or it was the harness. or something IDFK. i got the alternator off, took it in, tested it. it was good, bought a new harness, still didnt work, so i ended up re-wiring the alternator, buying a new alternator, doing a coolant flush and installed new spark plug wires (freebie from dad!) oh and i upgraded shocks in the front and rhino lined a bunch of the front end and undercarriage. Before: After: I'll get some of the alternator, underside and shocks tomorrow. got dark on me. haha, funny story pertaining to my minitruckin tenancies; when i got my truck, my stepbro twitch (he has tourettes) also bought a lowered s10 because he likes my truck alot. well he is at my house today trying to talk me into trading trucks with him and we decide to go get some munchies from walmart. we take my truck and of curse i just got my truck off of being on stands for 2 or 3 days so i wanna stretch her legs a bit... i drift a round-a-bout perfectly in 3rd, and floor it coming out at like 45, than hit a straight-a-way going 90+. needless to say, we got to walmart and back quickly. as soon as we walk in the door, my mom asks us to go back to wally world for some vinegar since shes canning. we take twitches s10. he starts getting on it in the round-a-bout and takes it wayyy fast and squirrely. ENDS UP CURBING BOTH HIS PASSENGER WHEELS TRYING TO DRIFT OUT!!! after chuckling about his drift skills all the way to walmart, he decides to let me drive on the way home. he has the nerve to tell me "DONT WRECK IT!" so just to **** with him, i drifted the round-a-bout in HIS TRUCK. he was pissed the rest of the way home and i was laughing my fool head off as he was cussing about how crappy his wheels and tires are. i told him to shut it and bow to his master.
to trade or not to trade? i got an offer after i posted an ad on craigslist (just for nibbles) to trade for this beauty: she's an 86 ext cab bagged and notched on 20's with mint interior. it's also got a automatic trans & a 20r swap with headman header and webber. oh, and a few pics of when i went camping yesterday =]
big update! got some 2001 celica bucket seats and primered the exterior of the truck. also moved the blue LEDs to the footwell area and kept them on a switch (cops dont like other people having lights for some reason.). pics when my internets not being a punk.
I wouldn't trade it. and make sure you tighten that alternator bolt (the big and small one, both!) I lost the big one before, driving.
sanded and did a primer base. still thinking about color. i like black but i feel like its a bit played out. maybe a root beer brown with some flake?
got a canopy from the free section on Craigslist to protect my tools for the winter. it was blue when i got it, but i sanded it down and layed down some black primer. still needs new handles, clamps and one peice of side glass, besides that its nice. pics soon!
before paint: After: also, got clamps for the bed so i dont have to use bungees. also got some new bulbs for the canopy brake light. working on getting new handles for it so it doesnt smack when i hit a bump...
uhhhhrrrmmmyyyyygerrrrshhh i havent updated this in quite a while. it got warm enough, so i decided " im taking my damned canopy off!" and did. back to bungeeing down the tool box and mini-jack. threw a clutter catcher in between the seats. added some blue LED's below the doors for night effects. added some 8" rockford fosgates to the rear audio setup, so now its 6x9's in the doors, a 1200w 12" pioneer and rockford fosgate 8's in the back. it sounds nice, even without tweeters. added a radar detector since profiling has been an issue with police lately. changed out the tranny and motor mounts, swapped out my broken speedo, wired up a 4runner rear view mirror w/map lights. got a deal a few days ago on some rear bags, lines and brackets off an f150 for a 100 bones. i figure the bags being in good shape are worth about $120. any info on rear bag setups would be appreciated. price? pros and cons? ease of install?
baby girl got a new spray tan! she's back in the shop getting sanded down and ready for another layer right now though...
found a new canopy for free (its white tho, and needs a good pressure washin). threw a 3rd brake light/ back up light on it from a ford ranger, also my brother hooked me up witha free fender mirror from an old kawasaki motorcycle. post pics later today =]
havent been on here in forever. hit up lowdown 2013 here in SW washington the other day. pretty sweet, except i'd spent all morning at the junk yard finding a new door and fender. after checking the trucks out for solid half hour i had to go to work, but the bug had bit. i needed to work on my truck more, so i went and got some paint and sand paper and some electrical connectors from the local harbor freight and napa stores and went to work painting and re-wiring some speakers. heres a pic i took today of her after laying down YET ANOTHER coat of primer ( gotta love having a can of paint in your truck to fix small scratches at any given time) and added some mids to the little cubby pockets below the rear windows. also threw in a couple 6x9's under the rear seats. that gives me a total of 6 speakers and 2 subs. it's getting pretty hard on the electrical system and im thinking i need a capacitor or upgraded grounds. anyhoo, heres the mandatory pic to finish my rambling:
