So, even though the Jellyroll came with a really awesome stereo:lol: and some sweet speakers:

I decided to put in some new kit so I would enjoy my bimonthly 6 hour commutes to Seattle. Standard Crutchfield fare:

Not really a serious mod like most of the stuff on this forum, but it was a real morale booster with the truck and it has transformed my enjoyment of I-5 traffic jams. :eyecrazy: And for the record, this pioneer HU fits like a glove and works flawlessly as a Bluetooth or USB-powered media player... pretty cheap too. I cut a hole in the back of the stash slot below the HU and ran the USB from the back of the HU through there... Works great as you can plug in your iPod or whatever and then just set it in the slot. No cables running everywhere, and you can just use the HU controls to navigate and talk trash to Siri.

    More to come...

And now for a fun story...

I had just driven the six or so hours of Friday evening traffic on I-5, a trip of about 270 miles between Corvallis, OR and Seattle, all without any sort of problems. Tunes blaring, lights working, generally an OK time. As I pull up to the house my wife's been staying in, where she's standing outside, she says "What's with all the water shooting out of the front of the truck?!" I put the rig in neutral, set the brake and step out of the cab to see my coolant shooting a 5-foot long stream, super-soaker style, out into the street. I was stoked.:runaway: Somehow, in all of the driving in crazy traffic and 6-lane wide interstate, I was lucky enough to lose my coolant in the driveway of where I would be sleeping that night. Ok, I was VERY lucky. The radiator had a 4-5 mm hole in the front somehow. Had it happened downtown Seattle or Portland in traffic, FML...

So, this is a story with a (relatively) happy ending. The next morning I called the local O'Reilly's... 4 hours and $170 later they had a radiator for me... A little bit of street auto work:

And we were off for a weekend of camping in the Jellyroll on the Olympic Peninsula. All things considered, I'd say I was feeling pretty lucky. Never made it to the casino that weekend though...

I'm finally getting my ducks in a row financially and I'm looking at lift parts. I've been browsing around the 4crawler.com site and think I'll try to source all the parts from there. I'm curious if you installed your 4crawler 2" lift, and what problems you may have run into. For example, did you extend your shifter? Have to adjust the radiator mounting position? How about the gas tank neck or brake/fuel hardlines? A body lift seems pretty straight-forward in my brain, but I read about several potential hassles on the 4crawler site and it wasn't clear if we would have those problems on our trucks. Any other tips or bits of wisdom from the body lift install are certainly welcome, too. I'm hoping to do it all in an evening at my buddy's shop.

This was the bodylift kit that I had and the pic I took when I removed it to sell it.

I didnt have any issues when I did mine. The only 2 things I had to install were the radiator and the front bumper drop brackets. I think I made my own radiator brackets but everything else was from 4crawler. The steering shaft had enough slip so no extension was needed and the shifter was a little lower but it worked fine. If you plan on using the bed for hauling stuff, I would get the bed spacers that 4 crawler sells also. They just help the bed floor from sagging under heavy weight but they aren't needed. Filler neck was also fine, I just had to loosen up the hose clamps to let it stretch to the right length.

Best way to install it is to loosen all the bolts on the cab but remove just one side at a time so the other side will act as a pivot to help keep it aligned. Use a block of wood and a jack to lift the body and slide in the blocks. Make sure to loosen the steering shaft and take off the radiator shroud to give the fan room.
Once both sides of the cab are done, you do the bed the same way. It's also a good idea to replace the body mounts at this time if the rubber is cracked and falling apart.
