haha Thanks! ya I used to be into baja and loved that style and had to use the widebody. Im in southern ca. but I plan on going to practice at a track soon in riverside. It would be bad-ass , two of us sliding around there! Not sure what kind of link your talking about, can you send pics?
what you need is a upper link to keep the rear end from moving around to much and drastically changing your pinion angle ( it kills u-joints ... and could jack up your transmission , and its mount ) I have a skinned bed ... I sit there and watch it sometimes ...and it moves A LOT!! ..
^^ true that.. i slide my truck around, and i can see the damage that it does to it afterwards. the leaf springs get twisted, and the blocks always seem to shift. i am currently making lateral bars to mount to the axle so it doesnt move so much, jus temporary till i do a four link with a coilover set up. i am down to drift anytime, anywhere.. i am in socal(diamond bar) and i go drifting proabably four nights a week. i drive a 86 single cab, nothin crazy done to it
What motor set up yuu guys running. The stock 22r doesnt seem to make enough power to slide our trucks around, especially my long bed. Lol
I used a fairly stock 22r for a long time (weber carb , port matched and header) and it ran real nice power/weight ratio look at the rolla (ae86) 80-90hp slides all day
thats what I have set up on my burners.... I have a set of stock steelie's with 185-70's and a chrome set with the same size tire 185-70-14 14's are so much cheeper ...and you can get them used all day long
My truck slides around good for being a stock engine. I'm debating on either doing little mods (carb, cams, headers) or just saving up and dropping in a 1uz.. I just would need to find someone to do the work.. but for now, I have a little update. And pacificwheel I'm down to go drifting I'm next door in Brea/La Habra. I plan on taking my truck to Adams racetrack on thursday!
looks killer bro. drop a small block in it, you will have no problems sliding.. they are cheap and bolt right in !
Looking good Dustin! Here are a few pics from the build... The issues... 3" Belltech leafs and 3" blocks had this truck rubbing the drive shaft pretty bad...c-notch & cross member notching was in order... Low end Belltech blocks that don't fit the axle perch correctly were new and already leading to disaster. Streetaco's builds steel blocks with a couple features others don't have...offset pin & hole to pull the axle back 1/2" and keep the drive shaft from being pushed into the trans too far, (2nd pic below of shaft pushed in too far) and they're longer which makes them more stable and safer. These had a taper since his drop is 6" in back. Donuts so tight I don't think the inside front tire even turns when doing them LOL. I actually made a sound clip on my i-phone when I was doing donuts on my test drive, hahahaha. I'll have to get it from my email and post it here, it's pretty funny. SD YOTA would be proud!
