Ok, been busy with the girlfriend lately so haven't had much time for the truck, but got a little time to work on it this evening. Also i was given a set of late 90's mustang gt wheels with good tires, i took them because i knew the pattern would fit my truck. They fit on the back but will not fit on the front of the truck because they are 16's and i suppose with the offset, they just don't fit too well. The only place they touch is the upper ball joint, very minimal though (it can actually by seen in the second pic before i put the 19's ont he front), it could be grinded slightly to fit. So i took the 19's and put them on the front, 16" gt wheels on the back, just to roll around for now.
Also, i took my recip saw and cut the fender wells out, this is by no means a final cut, just a rough cut to make room for the wheels when i put the bags on the front, i will go back later and clean the edges up, so no worries.

The front wheels do slightly resemble the IS300, but no they are 19" Axis Hagens, and the rear wheels i believe are 96-98 mustang gt's minus the center caps on both type's of wheel.

okay, today my friend Tweeter came to help.
First i got comfortable and removed the nuts off the torsion bar bolts. One even had the lock nut completely seized to the adjuster nut.. since i was not going to re-use the torsion setup, i decided to get a recip. saw and just cut the nuts off. yes i chopped its nuts off with a saw...
Anyways warning, there is still tension on this setup even with the truck raised.. the other side upbolted nice and smoothly. This is me, and apparently the face you make when you know after ten years your truck is about to get the drop.. ha
    [IMG]

Then we removed front bump stops, the struts (which i had to cut out the other day) then the jack stands.

Stuck one of the 2wd fenders back on momentarily to get an idea of how much rim i was tuckin.

Then Tweeter unbolted the leaf springs on the rear end, and one of the bolts was seized and with full force of a hammer, not even budge the slightest bit, so he broke out the grinder and cut the mount from the frame.

See my truck is already throwing sparks..

yes it is getting harder to get around in there, each time i remove something, it usually gets thrown on the floor in my way..
Next up is to source me a mustang 8.8 rear end with disc brakes, figure out a way to recess the brake master cylinder since the booster is going to be in the way of the tire. Then on with more fun stuffs! My goal is to have at least the bags on by next spring, that way i can have a functional rolling chassis so i can enter in an under construction or two.

ok, got some time to work on the truck a little today:
First i jacked the truck up, unbolted the rear brackets holding the torsion bars on, and pulled them out, it was a lot easier than i had imagined.

Played a little, got some 3 wheel going on...

Then i removed the brake booster for the heck of it, since it needs to be done anyways.

Then i got the cutting wheel out and cut off the metal bump stops off of the frame arm, because this was a point where the suspension was hitting and hindering.

Got a little lower now that the torsion bar brackets are not in the way, and on the driver side the wheel is hitting fire wall, so next will be doing a minor hack job on firewall to clear tires. As well as seeing what else needs to be done to make the truck go lower up front.

It's ok, new brackets for the bags will be custom fabricated.

Put a few more hours in this evening, the goal was to get the frame on the concrete, but after about two hours it was dark, i had not succeeded and decided to work on it some more later on in the week, but here is what did get done.

First, i jacked the truck up, and pulled the engine harness back into the cab.

Then cleared some room so i can begin cutting the firewall, for now it will look rough until i bring my truck to have the tubs welded in.
On the inside driver side, i had to remove the fuse panel, wiring, clutch/brake pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder.

Once all obstructing objects have been removed, i pulled back the factory sounded deadener / insulation. Then i began to cut, i cut a large patch on each side to ensure the clearance of the wheels, i over cut them since i know the wheels will tuck much more and eventually there will be a body drop. I didn't worry too much about the holes being so close to the mounting holes for the clutch master cylinder since the SBC motor will be mated to a 700r4 automatic more than likely. So, no clutch cylinder needed :)

Then, after staring at the big gaping holes for a few minutes, i lowered the truck back down as far as it would sit.

^^^ In the last picture, you can actually see a horizontal line across the tire where the fire wall was sitting/touching the tire.

With no surprise, the truck did not sit any lower, yet i can stand on the front bumper, jump up and down, and the control arms still flex up and down, so, either the truck is being held up by the static friction of the bushings where the upper and lower control arm meet the frame, or the front triangulated suspension bars are helping keep it up, i have not looked yet, i will investigate that sometime this week or next weekend.

    More to come soon..
