so i beleive my transmission is pretty close to crapping out, im hoping that its just the throwout bearing as my friends say and nothing to big, but if it is something big does anyone know what type of trans is in my truck? im just wondering if its the same as a 20r or 22r trans ive never really been able to find much info on the 2L diesel engine but i personally belive its pretty much identical to a 20r in concept

there's a plate on the firewall under the hood, it will list your engine/trans type.
Alternatively, you might find some info here.

    update!!!
after almost 14 months of owning the truck i FINALLY have it registered in my name! if you guys are wondering why it took me so long since ive had all the paper work since atleast november,i basically gave up hope on the truck and attempted to sell it to a very serious buyer, but im just not ready to let it go so i turned the offer down (my apology's zembalayan). so ive done very little work since my last posts, i got a new hood on the truck with almost no rust and a front bumper off of a 88 oh and i finally have door panels! i just want to redo them before i put them in the truck.

so up next is (hopefully) a bed, i will be posting an ad in the want to buy section. and im looking at a set of wheels that i need some info on. the are 7 inches wide with 0 offset so they have about a 3.5in lip. will these be able to clear 2wd fenders once they are rolled and the truck is lowered?

I am glad you got the title crap all figured out. I would hate to deal with that stuff.

I want a diesel in my yota so bad. But the 1kztewith a 3" straight pipe and a single 3-4" stack. O how I wish those engines weren't an arm and a leg

Im fairly sure sd22 diesel engines from nissan 720s arnt that bad to find. It is a nissan but a engine is a engine to me so... Wont make any power though haha

I hate titles man, its ridiculous. Honestly if you brought the truck to someone in SC, no notaries here someone in SC could have put it in there name and then put it in yours, not sure if you had signed the back yet though, I always leave my titles open with just the sellers name signed incase I sell it before I register it, but the dmv does have to inspect the vins now, something they did within the last year.

thanks for the comments guys kentucky is really easy with titles for real, the problem was that they had to follow ohios laws basically

got some work done today, i stumbled upon some door panels at the junk yard a couple of weeks ago so i had to pick them up, only problem was they were freaking blue, and i figured blue doors panels in a red truck with a tan interior would be disgusting so i painted them black with vinyl paint. they also came with some super high tech 30 year old 4in speakers so i had to hook them up, im actually really surprised at the sound, i figured i wouldnt be able to hear them over the truck like my last speakers but i can even hear them on the highway.

and heres a pic of the front end since i havent posted it yet, i got the new hood off the same truck that i got the door panels from, its in alot better shape seeing as the whole front edge of my old hood had rusted away. also got the bumper off of an 88, its not in the best of shape but i couldnt stand the old one that was one there.just gotta get turn signals for it

so im hoping to do some work this weekend, i want to put on new brake pads/shoes ( i dont really need them its just something i wanna take care of now instead of later on) replace the clutch (im hopefully doing this tomorrow i really need to get it done) and replace thermostat rad hoses and a cooling flush. i bought all the parts i need earlier this week. today on the drive to work my upper radiator hose failed without me realizing it happened, thankfully i had the random urge to check under the hood before i left work id hate to imagine what would happen if i left work and tried to drive home like that! im just annoyed that i had to run up to o'riellys to pick up a new one when i had one at home lol

Holy crap around here that's a parts truck... Pull the VIN and all 5 parts worth keeping off of it and get $150 a tone or so for the leftovers.

Looks decent so far keep at it and eventually it'll be worth keeping. :D

oh i know, it wouldnt even make a good parts truck though lol! i could never consider scrapping it, the way i look at it, it would be a loss to the toyota community. the more of these that get scrapped, the harder it is to find/restore these amazing old trucks.

Seriously I've scrapped far better than that... Hell once upon a time I crushed an 82 long box diesel that was in decent shape when I worked at a wrecking yard. Go figure I picked up an 81 4x the next week and could have used a BUNCH of parts off that truck. I still kick myself for that one.

really long extension. loosen the motor mounts and tilt the trans back and down to get the extensions in. GL
