Next? rejetted the carb with 145/150 from 137/140. HUGE difference. Runs WAY better, it was really lean. The exhaust doesn't have that raw gas smell anymore from unburned gas, and it starts better. Also slapped in the 4" Kenwood speakers I got off Craig's for $10 and now I have decent tunes. Sounds alright, nothing too exciting but at least now I can hear the music over the engine / road noise.

I still have to lock down the torsion bars and tighten up the steering box some more and it'll be pretty solid. I"ll be dragging it to the dump tomorrow morning, another load of debris from the last project... probably 2 more loads after this... lost of really heavy brick to take, the truck can only handle so much.

Swapped out the back slider for a new one this weekend in trade for my old seats. Then the blower motor went out! Might just be a fuse, I'm hoping! Haven't had a chance to check yet.

Still gotta tighten up the steering box, it's a little squirrely in the rain. Got a weird rattle too, gotta chase that down.

Ahh, old vehicles are fun!:verdict_in:

    Did a few things:

    - replaced the pdeal pads, they were missing since I got the truck.
    - Adjusted the clutch pedal, it was grabbing off the floor before.
    - Put in the new shift boot. Much nicer. Less grungy.
    - Installed the steering wheel cap. Was sick of looking at the bolt. Found one on Ebay for < $20!!
    - Replaced a bunch of bulbs, now I can see at night!

Just gotta get that PCV valve done and tighten up those torsions (no lock bolts on them right now), and fix the blower motor. I have to pull it and test it to make sure it's the motor and not a wiring issue.

Oh yea, I've got a laundry list still for the truck, but it's Christmas time and I'm broke! :doah:

Well since someone mentioned that no one's posting I guess it's time for an update. ;):p

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... I drove the truck to work a couple times?
Uhhh.... I grabbed a $10 crappy parts store console so I don't spill my coffee on myself. I was using those cardboard Starbucks drink carriers since they fit nice and snug between the seats... but once they get wet the kinda don't hold anything anymore...

Been busy as F&%#$K lately so nothing has been done on the truck lately. Thinking of pulling the plugs and doing a compression check again, the engine is running even more rough now and it's blowing some smoke... down on power and MPG. It's making weird sounds too. My AIC tribute is back up and running from hiatus now so I'll roll to practice in it on Sunday. It's 40 miles each way to Mulino where we jam, so that's a good run. My back will hate me but WHATEVER! LOL!!!

Bad leaky slave cylinder... found it today when the clutch pedal went to the floor and there was no fluid in the master.

Plan is to replace the whole thing, master / slave / hose. Every time I fix just one part of a system on this truck I wind up replacing the whole thing piece by piece anyway, might as well just get it done. Probably gonna be $70-80 total to fix it, but still sucks.

Oh well, one less thing to break in the long run, right? :looney:

Pushed the truck into the garage today... oh man, 2700lbs isn't light... ugh... I don't need to go to the gym tonight LOL!!

Anyway, looks like the hose AND the slave are bad. good thing I got both, plus a new master. I'm not taking any chances. Only cost me $43, not too worried about it, not something that will go out again anytime soon.

At least the truck started right up once the fuel bowl filled up!! :waytogo:

Got fed up with feeling like a sardine in my truck, traded a guy who was looking for buckets for his bench. I was originally going to get a bench but wanted to keep the console. Well, at 6'3" and the Corolla buckets being like 2" thicker than the stock bench and not able to go all the way back, my back wouldn't let me keep it that way. Slapped the bench in there and all of the sudden I fit again. It's a bit dirty and the wrong color, nothing a good shampoo and a cover won't fix! Pics later, gotta figure out the shift boot / console thing!

Yea it works. I wanted to find a different bench, but the one I wanted didn't materialize, and this one was in good shape. I was looking for the standard low back bench with no headrests that sat up against the back of the cab. Even black vinyl would have been good. This one works too but it is the wrong color.

I've got one of those benches you are looking for. Came in my pick-up when I bought it. The misses has been bugging me to get rid of it; I wouldn't say it is in the greatest of conditions, but it was comfortable enough for me to commute 60 miles a day.

I had the same interior just stock. no cuts in dash or door cards. made new panels and wrapped them in coffee sacks. didn't want to cut up the factory panels for speakers. wish i still had the center console with gauges though. somebody jacked mine! i like Your truck. and i was going to sart with 2" blocks in the rear but after cranking down the front i realised that 3" was a better choice. now i want to take out a leaf from the rear and flip my ball joints... think you will be happier with 3" i daily mine as well/ use it as a work truck and load up the bed. also consider wheel and tire size as well..

yea I'm pulling a leaf in a couple weeks, I have an entire week off to mix the new album, and in my off time I have a laundry list to take care of. nothing too ridiculous, just pull the center leafs, do the rear brakes, replace the trans tailshaft seal, and if I can find them swap in some 3:42's. The front of my truck is already dropped 2" and I'll adjust from there when the back is down, then cut the bump stops to size. Hoping after that I'll lock it down and it'll be good.

Hey - anybody have a Taco with one of these consoles in it? I was thinking of grabbing one, painting it to match, and then installing it. Need to know how wide the thing is to match up to my brackets at my shifter.

Dude if you need it. (you had first dibs) and Curtis has to get rid of it now, I could pick it up for you and hold it till June...

    Or

Not! and just get it for me...

You want to rebuild one and reupholster it? Miner has a big hole in the drivers side...

Hey Curtis When can I hook up with you after the first of the month.
