Found the right one at autozone. Part # is 8188 or 8818.. anyways shes in and here is how the sending unit was bypassed.

Ok so I'm the owner of this truck now. I've had it for almost a year now and am finally giving it some love so I can daily drive it. When I got it from 78hilux lots of the engine gaskets where leaking so I got the full gasket set and did a headgasket and head overhaul. Also switched to the weber 32/36 carb, egr delete and electric fan. Before and after pics of the bay. The radiator I used is from an 82 corolla I had it already so I made the hoses work!

Hi guys great thread, I got a 78 heliux as well, and I want to lower it. I want to do the job right, no bouncy bouncy and can handle a curve. What do you guys recommend?

@78hilux Can you post your parts info and what you used to lower it? I might want to go a little bit lower maybe a half inch.

Also my ac/air dials in the dash board are broken. The plastic that stays screwed in the dash board is cracked and rattles like crazy. I need to replace it, i can't seem to remove it from the car. In the manual it does not explain how its connected to the car. Any ideas?
