I also thought about putting 4x6" speakers in the b pillar. About 2 feet from the floor. Cut the metal hole out, knife a chunk of foam out for the speaker, then poke a hole with a stick to the bottom with a metal rod. Drill thru at the floor to run the wire. Wouldn't be as boomy for a rear pair of speakers. Doors I cut the low freqs to avoid the boom

Sweet little truck man! I love this picture too. Looks right at home in the era correct background. I have been wanting to do some retro shots like that myself and just haven't gotten around to it.

Yeah, what he said ^ lol. I've been wanting to do era correct photo shoots too. I bet using one of my 70s 35mm cameras would help nail the effect.

I know were not the same body style but I did this mod and it works perfectly for a speaker location.

Glad you guys approve of the treatment so far. It's super fun to drive and having it look like it stepped out of a time machine enhances it for sure. If you're looking for a way to get this particular 70's effect, just a regular digital image with a bit of tweak in the yellow and red channels should get you there. 35mm Fuji Velvia, especially in an old camera, usually grabs the effect without any post-production effort.

Good tips. I'll go find some crusty old barns and get some shots of mine to compare the look. Keep up the good work.

...I spotted a pair of those cab vents on a '75 at the pull & save up here about a week ago. If i'd known they were hard to come by, woulda snagged them.
If you want, I can head up there tomorrow to see if they're still there.

Hey man, that would be great, but definitely don't go out of your way for me. But if you happen to find yourself there...

I'm definitely interested in a set of the slim-style vents if they're intact - not too worried about the finish (I can paint them), I just want them to be solid enough not to crumble like old bread as soon as I screw them on. Grab the black inner/under part if you can, too. If you ever happen to snag a good set I'd be glad to paypal or western union some money your way to ship 'em down here. Thanks!

I've got to head to pull & save tomorrow anyway (for that same '75.) because the lower valence (panel behind the bumper) of my '77 is borked up on the left side. those vents (if they're still there) would only be a few feet away, so i wouldn't be going too far out of my way for them.

Welp. No dice on the covers themselves, but the inserts are darn near perfect.

There is a small tear in the rubber of the left one, but other than that, they're golden.

They should be pretty cheap to ship too.

Cool, man. Thanks for picking them up. PM coming shortly...

Thanks, Henry. I feel like the truck has been rescued from certain doom. It's taking a lot of work right now just to keep the thing rolling and running, let alone looking good - but I know it will pay me back with many years of use. It is fun to drive, too...

This truck is FOR SALE. Located in Corvallis, Oregon. Plenty of details about the truck contained within this thread. Runs and drives, although it runs pretty rough right now. It seems to be something timing or ignition related. All around, its a honey of a truck with plenty of life left in it!!

    Make me an offer!

Thanks for everyone's help with this truck along the way. I sold the truck yesterday evening to a good home, and that guy may even continue posting up on this site as he works on it. Keep rollin' on...
