The guy redid the top seam, reattached the loose side bracket, and painted it flat black. I preferred semigloss, but oh well.

Here is my old filter cut up, those crumbs are dried debris.

There's the new filter in place.:clapping:

For others who tackle this, disconnect your spark knock sensor first. When I removed the starter, well I never actually got it out of the truck, but when moving it out of the way I pulled the wire out of the connector. I had to take it apart and solder it back on.:brickknock:

Good news is it fires right up now. Bad news is when I floor it the truck stumbles or hesitates untill I take my foot off the go pedal.:rolleyes2:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I pulled my plugs, regapped them, had to change one wire because the metal part stayed attached to the plug:doah:. Topped of the radiator and took the truck up the road. It was acting up for about a mile, but after that it cleared up and is now accelerating normally. Got lucky I guess.

I went ahead and put in some lucas injector cleaner and changed the air filter. I got my fingers crossed it will keep goin for a while.

That is the exact same thing I was experiancing. My truck ('88 22re) sat for a while until I started it up and noticed some throttle hesitation. But the hesitation stopped soon after I changed the filter, drained the tank (and debris), and ran some injector cleaner. And now I think my truck is running great. I still want to drive it a bit more to feel if anything else is wrong though.
    GOOD WORK DOOD

Thanks man. Yeah just give it some time and see what it does. Though I'll admit I was a bit panicked when it started that hesitation crap. Good luck with it.

All right, I just took a peak at a service manual. It says torque the upper ball joint bolts to 23 ft lb, and the lowers to 94 ft lbs.

    Wow does that seem correct?

Yeah I'm getting ready to do the old flip a roo.:D

    I already removed them.

Well when I took the nuts off, the u bolt threads got annihilated, they bent too. I had them torqued to 75 lbs/ft. I lubed them when I put them on and when I took them off. Still stripped.

    IMO that kit
    ain't worth a siht.

I took it back and got my money.

Guess I'll be getting the streetacos block kit. Go with the 4 inchers?

Well I have been doing some reading. Turns out U bolts are not really reusable.

I guess I'll try the reasonably priced kit again. This time I'll just leave them alone.

Streetacos, too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ any way.

I pulled the mid leaf, snugged the u bolts put tires on, it looked good but I could lean over my tailgate and the axle would hit the chasis. It would definitely call for a notch.

I put the leaf back in and started torquing u bolts down, almost got to 60 lbs/ft when, pop, the nut slipped down the ubolt about a 1/4 in.:brickknock:

I bought the second kit from a different store, maybe I can get another refund.

I don't know if its me, trying to follow directions, my torque wrench, or just low quallity parts.

    Torqued my factory u bolts to 80 lbs/ft, twice.

Im about ready to give up:doah:

i'm definitely not sure why your u-bolts are stripping...
mine haven't. Only u-bolts that gave me hell were the factory ones that were rusted up. I was at least applying 150+lb ft of torque just to get it turning. it was a while back.

when i got my 3" drop kit, i just cut my old ones off.

I did some reading and found a few others have complained about the u bolts in that kit stripping. I think the problem is when people actually use a torque wrench, we find the ubolts will not take much over 60 to 70 lbs/ft.

So I blame myself for trying to follow directions, and I blame the poor quallity steel the u bolts are made of.

I'm still undecided on what I'm gonna do. The belltech's don't look much better honestly.

:meemee:I'm open to sugestion on something made better but not outragously priced.:meemee:

The truck started that hesitation crap again too.:rolleyes2:

Hey NAM, I just watched a weeble wobble commercial.(your old sig)
