AFAIK any of the w5x series will bolt onto any other w5x series transmissions.

If you have the L43, you will probably have to modify the transmission crossmember. I believe the shifter location also changes, so that would require cutting the floor pan. However, it should bolt straight up to it.

you are going to have to move the transmission mount back, you can do this by either cutting and moving the whole crossmember mounts and crossmember, or by notching the center section of the transmission crossmember and sliding just the center back.

Also you will have to move the shifter hole in the floor back about 3 inches, if you have a bench it will be close but will fit if you have buckets no problem...

ive done the swap a couple times, its not hard, you just need a welder...

also thats if you have a l43, if you have a w45 everything is already in place, the swap drops right in..

Yep just did one myself. And yeah you'll have to move the shifer back about 3 inches and over to the driver an inch or so. And what I did was just use the tans mount from the 5 speed and redrill the holes to match the corresponding ones on the frame.

if it looks like this its a w50, and a 5 speed will just drop in.
if it looks different then this its going to be a slight pain to put a 5 speed in.

also i highly reccomend swapping a 5 speed 3rd member into your rear end ( no you sick bastard not like that ) because you might be geared so low that your truck lacks balls and you have to go 75 on the freeway just to get into 5th gear..

I went to pull apart (wrecking yard) and took a 79 celica 5 speed tranny. It bolted right up with out any mods. The speedo is off by 7mph but, that's it.
