^^^ that's what I'm thinking.. Intake, header, exhaust and maybe a cam.. That's plenty for me until something happens and I swap in a 350 haha.. Any takers on the air meter sensor issue?

I would start with the gear, (depending on whats in your truck already).

For instance, its common for these trucks to have a 3.50 ish or 3.08 gear ratio. Depending on what transmission you have (4 speed, 5 speed) you can go to a 4.10 easily. 4.30's arent bad at all if you have the W58 transmission with its tall overdrive.

My truck makes great power, but its still not it all can be because of the gear ratio. It has a 3.42 and is CRAVING a 4.30. Check my link in the sig.

You can make the 22R's peppy for cheap. Somewhere around a thousand bucks is kinda the limit of diminishing returns. Header, cam, filter/intake, exhaust, light flywheel, all add up to about that and just make it peppy.

Not going to run without the air flow meter,as directs the fuel mixture reading to the ECU which controls the engine!

you will need to get or make an adapter to fit the filter on.

Actually you don't have to buy anything in the way of intake piping. Here's a pic of what I did. If you cut up the flexy rubber intake pipe and stretch it on the right way it works. I just bought a K&N filter which comes with an adapter to get the filter cone mounted.

Iv'e been curious as to what a cam would do to my mileage, do you mostly drive freeway? I have hills and stuff where i live, so i dont want it killing my mileage. (will be lookin for a thoreley header shortly for it.)

I drive my truck in every condition you can think of . Hills ,city, & freeways. At 75 -85 most of the time, which gives me around 23-25 mpg. If cruising long distances & 65 I get 31mpg.
I have seen no problems ,the engine pulls great from any speed ,in any gear! City driving 25-45mph ,is good,no problems!!

Awesome, that's pretty well what i wanted to hear. lol
But i gotta get rid of some other projects before i can afford one. I took 88 to tahoe my second week of having the truck, full tank, another person in it and i couldnt see out the rear view, it was so stuffed. i got 27.5 from that tank. so i think ill do fine.

Damn these cali engines. Id be able to do that in one day if it wasnt for those vaccuum lines.
