Yeah, me too, but if you don't get it, it's just lime green....and I don't want to explain it all the time. I'm doing something else, it'll look good too. ;)

Maybe the zinc chromate belongs on a WW2 fighter themed build. Hmmm....

Okay, most of the rest of the engine is buttoned up now. Most of the parts are new, so it went together pretty nice. The valve cover is just loose (and not finish painted yet) but from there down the engine is done. Had to test fit the header, it looks great IMO. This my second 22R build, I'm hoping that I learned something from the mistakes I made on the first. This time I didn't put a too-long bolt in and hit the chain tensioner like last time. :p I tightened the bolt at the front of the head before the oil leak started this time, I also gave that part of the head gasket a coat of sealant.

    Looks good bro!

Keep a close eye out on that oil pan gasket... I've had a few of them cork/rubber stuff tear and leak... I use grey RTV now on all my builds like the come from the factory...

Can't really tell if that's a fram oil filter or not but, if it is throw it away... Throw in an extra few bucks on a good quality filter especially after a re-build/build cause you will have metal shavings and you don't want that roaming around your fresh motor...

I'll watch it, thanks for the heads-up.... I didn't even expect to find a pan gasket in the set, but it looked like it would help to seal the imperfections in the old used oil pan. I straightened it out pretty well, but it's never gonna be new again.... I did use Form-a-gasket on the pan side, and was careful not to overtighten the bolts.

    Going by memory....

Parts from Engnbldr- pistons, rings, bearings, metal-backed timing set, front cover, oil pump, head bolts, gasket set- ~$400 Canadian.

Water pump from Autopartsway- $50 C.

Machining, including cylinder head rebuild with new valves- ~$1000 C.

    Header- $350 C.

    Cam- $130 C.

I know, I know, there are cheaper deals on reman engines out there, but this one I KNOW is good from top to bottom.

And besides, I enjoy putting 'em together.

It's gonna be a while... I want to put the truck in the garage, strip the box, engine and trannny, front end sheetmetal, and doors off, then paint it semigloss black. Then, the new engine and trans go in, along with the EFI conversion stuff. If all goes to plan, it'll roll out a different truck.

None of this can be done until I finish some work on my turbo Celi and finish the rest of the garage interior....

    Wanna come help? ;)
