I have a question about finding a port in the engine to thread a temperature sensor switch on a 22R. I see this port- in the photos- near the thermostat and wonder what it is, and if I can use it? The one on the left is the one I think I can use? and the one on the right, is the temp sender that goes to the dash.

I bought a flex a lite fan, and wiring kit with a screw in temperature switch.
was having trouble with the radiator probe switch, so I wanted to tap directly into the coolant for a better read.

    Thank you for any help!!!

I would assume if you unscrew it (while cold) to a certain point and coolant comes out, that would be a suitable spot to thread one in if the threads match too. That screw is below, or at, the same level as the thermostat is of course.

Ok yeah that makes sense. I guess I should just start unscrewing it. I was worried it had some other purpose and I didn't want to adjust anything it might be doing? But thats prob not the case?

thanks for taking the time to respond to my thread!

    No worries!
Although I'm not sure if it on the offchance might be reverse thread so double check before you go cranking on it.
Let us know what you find though!

Hey! just wanted to send an update. I took out that plug (it was normal thread), and was able to add the new temperature switch sensor in, and its working well!

thanks for the help and encouragement!

Excellent to hear! :waytogo: That will be useful for anyone else who may be looking to tap into the cooling system down the line too
