Only ever fitted to the Toyota Century, from 1968ish to 1995 or 1997 when the V series (V was non hemi, then 3V (3l), 4V (3.4l) and 5V (4l) hemi motors) was replaced by the 1GZ-FE V12.

my only thoughts on that motor would have to be a practical and logical thinking.... it might be hard to find such motor in the states and parts would be a PITA too.
but other than that, its pretty badass :D

Way too tall for a mini. Oil pan to top of intake is huge.

There are some pics of parts from one here -
    http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~filez/Toyota 4V.doc
Will see about getting some other pics I have uploaded.
Brake and clutch fitment are going to be tight, might end up reverse mounted in the cabin.

This statement is not correct. I know a couple of toyota pickups running around cali that have 7m-gte motors in them that are perfectly legal and have been inspected and passed by a referee. Also in LA there are a couple of skylines that have been imported from Japan that are legal in cali. Back on topic to the OP I would go for the 1uz because they are light and cheap to come by. Let us know what you decide to do

    LS, GS, SC400 - all 1uz
earlier the year the thicker the rods and the more simpler the wiring. Simpler ecu = lower hp, but not major.
Each ls gs sc has varying sump locations, mid and rear I believe.

They all eventually mature to gain more compression, thinner rods, faster revving, higher rpm's.
They get to a point where they will get VVTI.
Then evolved from 4.0L beasts into 4.3L monsters that can torch rear tires and hurl a 5000lb sedan to 60mph in 5.6seconds.

The LS GS SC400's become LS GS SC430's.

    Sure!
    Seen a few online...
I'm doing basically the same but using a 5.3 vortec engine
Same setup as an ls1/2 with a smaller displacement, you can use most lsx parts on it
You can get an iron or aluminum block
Hp from 275-330 with big torque numbers up to 350 ft lbs... And that's stock
There in a ton of gm trucks and can be had for cheap!!
    Check out wikipedia

I will have to check into this. Are all LS1s all aluminum or is there only certain ones that are?

    Not just trucks!

I did some work today on a 06 Impala SS....Had to take it for a test drive.

    5.3 all aluminum LSX motor.

Really badass 303 horspower. Even thru a FWD automatic.

It would kick it in a minitruck.

    Yes!
The 5.3 has been around since 99 with various aluminum versions
Most are iron blocks (ls1 and ls2 blocks are all aluminum)
All of the motors are "lsx" gen motors
It's the 22r of General Motors... LOL
Watch those fwd ones, not sure if the tranny and such for a rwd would fit, some mounts may be different too
Best is to find a rwd aluminum 5.3 and use an ls1 or ls2 manifold as the truck manifold is way too tall
