You want the semi floating version. the local clutch and brake place read the same kind of thing to me straight off the parts list and were getting no where fast and so I showed him what I had, well when he saw what I had he said which I had already told him they are the same as landcruiser, He eventually went on to say that the different options had the same part numbers anyway
so removed brake booster brake and clutch master cylinders now there off to perth brake part for rebuilt clean/ up was wondering if there was any trick to getting clutch master back on, there seem to be a little washer & split pin of sorts ...wondering where they fit into things could not see how they worked when i dismantle clutch master thanks
They are the retainers washer and circlips, normally they stay with the masters and the push/connecting rod is removed off the pedal
well...got price($420 to steep)back from brake rebuilders to do recondition hydrovac/brake booster would have been nice to keep it with the car (original) but i have opted to take your advice and run without booster or now
sh#t... forgot to mark pedal height when taking apart clutch & brake master the other day is there a correct height from floor pan-pedal
No, so long as on the brake pedal there is enough free play so the brake light comes off and I normally adjust the clutch pedal so it sits at the same height just because it looks neater that way
back to brake booster was trying to establish whether or not it was a legal requirement to run one in Western Australia...no luck though went to pick my one up from perth brake parts supposedly they are not allowed to put it back together again due to liability so I'm stuck with it in pieces, thought i would have a crack at getting it together myself keep it for a rainy day below site may be of help Index of /Images/The Sludge Pile/Section_P_Brakes/Hydrovac
is it okay to leave valve/rocker cover off for a week whilst i get it cleaned up will put a towl over exposed engine parts & car has hood down and cover over it
The rocker cover is fine if covered well enough to stop dust and water. With the brake booster before the national code of practice ncop it was not legal to modify brakes outside factory options or pre approved accessories, I have not been able to get a official yes or no either and as so many have just said that you do not need one if they were factory optional. I like the theory that how many officials would not actually know if they had one or not and given the fact they were deactivated so never worked, combined with photos of others such as the lite stouts engine bay that never had them anyway, nor did the 40 series landcruiser that shared braking system and did not have booster servos either.
farrrrrrrrrrk...every time i think i'm going to be able to go for a spin around block something else self destructs on the stout what is this & is it easy to replace?... outlet where hose attaches rusted through
It is just a heater hose, just obtain another somehow new or not, dose not matter if it is not exactly the same so long as the thread is and any old toyota would have similar
Thats all most did. Pre 1974 never had heaters as they were considered luxury in Australia but the pain now is earlier models now need windshield demisters for road worthy
Looks like heater hose connector is harder to find than first imagined Not many old toyota wreckers here...think enzed can knock up similar
