    Hi guys

I didn't realize it had been so long since I last posted ...

Due to the the bad weather and general lack of time (I do work you know...) progress has been very slow but there are some advances:

    - Those small parts were completely sand blasted and spray painted.

    - Major cleaning, painting and reassembly of the back axle

    Rust converter was applied ...

    And painted ...

    and the re-assembly ...

That's all folks ... next time I will have the front hubs/suspension for you :meemee:

Parts are very hard to come by, but we managed to buy some ball-joints and cylinders from Rockparts

and these brake-cylinders were re-manufactured locally!

The vent rubbers are going to be a real headache as well as other small parts so please let me know if you guys have ANY spares to offer ... :waytogo:

Last Saturday I looked at the gearbox and decided to clean it up before I sand-blast and paint it ... believe it or not it took 3 hrs to scrape all the mud and tar from it !!!

Last night I had a first trial at polishing up the aluminum pieces and I guess the result wasn't too bad for a beginner ...

the bottom of the box is to be replaced totally ..

If you are doing a major restore I strongly recommend that you sandblast ... there are areas that were hiding some bad spots and others which we expected to be worse but weren't too bad at all !!!

I'm still not sure wether I'll give it clearcoat or not ... with the heat of the engine it normally starts to go yellow and crack, which makes it look pretty nasty. On the other hand if I leave it like this the owner can always pass some metal polish from time to time ;)

some very nice work there .. My Trekker recieved the same treatment .. http://www.toyotaminis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2033

I did clear the blasted pieces on mine , I dont know about your suppliers , but there is some NEW improved clearcoats out there that dont yellow with heat or age ..

looking forward to some updates ...
