I'va had mine shaved for 10 years on my daily driver, just don't skimp on the solenoid kit and you'll be fine and defintely put in a emergency...

just take out the drain plug on the bottom, then fill it back up on the side, a siphon pump makes it so much easier, you wanna fill it up until...
