In my 80 with a 20r we did it, just figure out which vacuum port gives f constant vacuum for the vacuum advance..
Trick to not have that happen, atleast not as bad, is when your down to about an inch left to weld let it completely cool and then purge it with...

I can't say for the newer mtrucks, but it didn't exactly in my 77. Width was perfect, so I used the top two holes and redrilled the bottoms....

Ebay has some good aluminum ones, that's where I got mine. Mine was a champion radiator and only cost me about$150 shipped but it wasn't a Chinese...
I had a rv3 cam in my quite built 22r, a little more agressive then a stage 2.. it ran pretty hard til 6k and had a good idle..
I don't have my 77 anymore, only my 89 4 runner. Only things I'd really trade for are nice bucket seats or front valance/bumper for my runner.
My guess is its paint..

I built it and I had no problem with holding 3-4k, but 6k is too much.. I cruised 80 at 3500 everyday
