Raise the rear end and throw it in gear. No road nosie, maybe you can pin point it better.. or a lift.

Ive used jacks stands to simulate some load. Does it get louder with speed or pedal input?

Not sure when the last time i complained about my no start when hot issue with this damn truck. Well i decided to try to replace one of the few things i hadnt swapped out yet which was the starter.

Got AC Delco unit in from Rockauto, To my surprise its MUCH smaller and cranks way faster. So far I haven't had the slow crank when hot and its fired up perfectly a few times after simulating conditions. Time will tell.

also rewired my electric fan to a thermo switch from the adjustable probe thing i had. Wasnt consistent and the engine temp would go past 210° at times even with the fan on.

Hope that was it. No/slow starts are a bitch to have in the back of your head while driving.. lol would give me anxiety!

Are you using a shroud on your rad?

Yea, i havent been driving it as much as i used to since this crap started, which started after i bagged it sadly.

And yes, factory shroud but i have the E-fan mounted to the Rad with those stupid pull thru ziptie type things. Probably not funneling the heat out very well

I had a magazine with page on a shop the did custom aluminum shrouds to fit. I hate that I can't find it.. I need to update my entire cooling system. Thanks to a lot of info on this forum that you guys share, I'm planning wisely.

The heat shield stuff has been fine. Only problem is they smell kinda funky, almost like a pizza smell

If you got your hands on a plasma cutter it shouldn't be to bad to make. A long bar fold will do you well to.

@Pearce I'd love to fab it myself, just don't have the equipment.
@jetas that's oddly random, and hilarious! Haha hey, as long as it does it's intended job.

You don't always need a lot of equipment. You can definitely do a big hole with a cut off wheel on a grinder. Just easier to mess up. A bar fold is a super simple tool that can can be made out of pieces of metal and vise grips if need be. Usually better then one you would buy because you can size it for whatever you need.

A design I've seen for optimum performance you might want to look at doing is a few vents around the perimeter with rubber flaps on the outside. This way you have more area to push air through when driving without the fan. When the fan is running it pulls them shut.

That sound ingenious. But wouldn't the rubber dry and crack due to heat exposure?
