Currently has a custom built flatbed that I plan on selling and replacing with a standard bed. A few pics of it as is. D8EAAA20-EA3A-4A7F-9B70-62BA7EAE976E.jpeg

Started on steering today, replaced idler arm, inner and outer tie rods ends and sleeves. Still need to replace pitman arm but the puller I had wouldn’t budge it. Going to have the alignment shop replace it when I get front end aligned.

You can get your wheel alignment very straight with a couple of string lines going from the rear wheels to the front.
Make sure the steering wheel is centred and straight and adjust the toe-in so you have about 1-2mm on each side.

Making nice progress! Make sure you clean theinterior pieces toroughly. I don't know if previous owners of my truck used interior polish or what, but the first time I painted things it ended up with suuuper bad orange peeling. I then washed everything with acetone, and the paint laid down fine after that.

Thanks, I’ve washed everything with soap and water. Then I wiped it down with wax and grease remover. Probably clean everything again, also have the plastic adhesion promoter to apply before the paint/dye. Hope it comes out decent.

Also replaced sway frame bushings and links, went with Energy Suspension. Was getting late and I couldn’t figure out why the links wouldn’t line up. There are three threaded holes, I was using the farthest one back☹️. After that it went smoothly.

Well I ended up doing the tune up after all. Everything except the fuel filter. Air filter was packed and spark plugs were absolutely shot.

3848D78A-8BF0-462B-9E93-E913F7CA6047.jpeg Got the fuel filter changed, would defintely consider a relocation kit. I'm sure some folks find it a piece of cake but I struggled with it. I'd changed plenty of 22R fuel filters but this was the first 22RE and I couldn't believe the location. There was a Toyota fuel filter on it, no idea how long it has been on. Based on the condition of the air filter and spark plug I imagine its been a while.

..and yet it still ran like a champ! That's why I love these trucks. You can beat on them and they just keep trucking away!!

Off to a friend’s shop for timing chain kit, water pump, belts, hoses, thermostat, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, oil and filter obviously and pitman arm install. They centered the steering wheel and may have fixed the speedometer, was working intermittently now all the time. They know Toyota’s inside and out. The tech that did my truck has a 1994 with less than 120,000 miles on it. Seems to be running a little stronger so imagine that the timing chain not being properly tensioned was some of that.
