Cool. Ill cut the Z and drop the frame horns tonight :)
So u did 1.25" Z correct? Then it looks like in ur build u flipped the engine cross member upside down to give you another .25"? Is that right or was I seeing things haha?

    Yes I only did 1.25"

No, I did not flip it. If you look at it, its basically a U shaped piece of steel, with some flat stock welded inside about 1/4" lower than the tips of the U. Cut the tips off the U, so its even with that flat stock the factory welded in. Mine looks like this [o`o`\_________/`o`o]

Actually more like that, notched where the oil pan would hit if you didnt do this. The round parts are bolt holes....

Xs5875. . Hey does it have to be Z'd that far back? Or does it not matter if I cut it farther forward? Im just wondering if it makes a difference if I cut it behind that hole or if I cut it a couple inches or so forward of that hole

i cut mine towards the firewall. about where the black line runs across the frame vin number.

and 1/8" is more then enough to make the Z fish plates out of. rule of thumb is your fish plate shouldn't be thicker then the parent material. the frame is about 1/8" on the outside and closer to 1/16" on the inside.

No. But to me a cowl hood means something mean lurks under there. A 115hp 22re isn't mean. Lol.

The dropped motor mounts also help keep driveline angles close to the same. By Z'ng you are raising the engine, and making the trans point down.

Haha true I feel the same way.. but I was thinkin of just pie cutting the hood area that's raised and rasing it a lil.. the front is the only issue of the stock hood not closing if I dint drop the motor mounts right? So its the best to just drop the motor mounts then?

I never saw this thread... You can cut for z anywhere u like as long as its behind suspension and in front of steering. I cut mine a bit farther back too. You dont have to drop motor mounts either with no BD it clears hood just fine. I started to build my plates outta 3/16 but it was thick and hard to match frame curvature with so I switched up to 1/8 which will be plenty strong. I'll post pics up of the new ones sometime next week. Good luck bro! *subscribed*

Right on man thanks. Yea I bought 3/16 just to make sure but yea it is a bit of a pain matchin curves haha.. I got the frame horns done and gusseted. Workin on the Z gissets now.. the whole frontend will be done tonight.. now I just need my damn tubular A arms and tranny x member to get here haha.. I might cut the rear bag mounts off tinigjt to and raise em 1" cause im 3/4" from layin frame in the back cause they are to low.. I passed on the body drop for now just cause ill do a frame later down the road.... question... how much does it change my driveline pinion by not lowering the motor mounts?

Any auto zone carries silicone 3" couplings and the "spectre" chrome plastic elbows. You'll need 2 couplings and one 90 degree elbow.

eBay is where I bought my "cone filter and maf adapter" it was bout 20 bucks.
