if im not mistaken, it does work for awhile, but is a tar based adhessive and it will dry out and all that over time

checked the chain, nice and tight.. guides are intact, looks at one time it was horrible since the cover is gouged to hell.
the knocking is an exhaust leak? i mean the exhaust is shot, but it sounds alot worse lol
