im jealous! i still like the flip down console. maybe fiberglass one thatll fit into the flipdown armrest spot =)
Yah, I'm torn between a 4Runner console or a custom console. The custom one cost alot more, even with friends making it. The problem with the 4Runner console is there's a heater/ac fan under it. The fan mounts to the floor then the console mounts to the fan. So if you don't have the fan you have to fab some mounting brackets.
well that solves it... im makin me a custom console to fit into the flip down spot haha it only needs to hold wallet, ipod and simple stuff... i could use the glovebox for the other stuff AND if i really have to, make some door mounts like the tacos have that cover the speakers but let u put crap in it
lol wow 103 pages of off topic rambling lol ! general now i know how you got to be an addict in like no time, you started this thread!
Of course, that's how I made it to addict too. There's another alternative to the center console stuff, as I said, wood and Wal Mart carpet, and if a 4Runner console has no fan, a little bit of sheet metal should work, couple of bolts here and there, etc.
im really liking that flip down idea tho... but i was plannin on usin wood for the body but fiberglass a top part for it with a cushion on it for me
Sounds good, I forgot about cushion... I may make a midget pillow to put under the upholstry of the thing, if I have to make custom. You oughta put a DVD player in the console, Pimp My Toyota status!
A friend of mine built a console for his Nissan and put foam in the armrest then covered it with suede. Its not finished yet
naw thats y ima put in a double din head unit yea thats wut i wanna do but i gotta keep the bench for the lady friends lol but if i have to make new holes for the seats, just simply drill the holes?
You gotta try to get some pix when he does, I'd like to see it, maybe custom design mine if I can't find a 4Runner or SR5 console.
Which head unit you lookin at? Yah, just drill holes & use bolts & nuts to mount the seats. He's got the frame built. I could get a pic next time I go over.
If they're genuine Toyota seats, they should just bolt right in! That's how it'll work on my truck getting the buckets. I punched a small, unnoticeable hole in my vinyl flooring and found an OE mount for bucket seats brackets. Just need to tracked down some seats and hardware, including seatbelts. Remember, whenever something is mass produced, the parent companies try to make nearly everything the same to cut costs.
theyre supposed to be, but u never kno yea i would love to see the console... but im lookin at a pioneer/alpine double din, and installing gps and a backup camera
I've heard that some std cabs don't have all the holes. You have to remember, the reg bench seat has 4 mounts, the 60/40 has 8.
Do you guys think an '03 Corolla S steering wheel will fit in my '88? I love the style and the leather upholstered wheel, not to mention, the first car I drove was a Corolla... God I want one! That or a new Matrix. I know I'd have to remove the airbag, but I'm sick of being flipped off for accidentally hitting the horn.
