Hi i have a 93 ext cab 2wd. 3.0v6 5speed. Im wanting to swap it for a donor 22re. I have the brain and wire harness. Am i going to need the adapter and or what else am i going to need? Thanks in advance (i wont be able to check messages till after work)
Yea thats what ive been told also, but i have a 22re donor motor reality available. If i had 3.4 motor i would go that route.
You're going to have to remove the mounts for the 3.0 from the frame and make some for the 22r or get some from a donor. Not the part that mounts to the block but the ones on the actual frame
Sell the donor, get a 3.4, save time and effort on the swap? I'm sure it's apples to apples as far as overall cost, either you're paying for more motor, or paying for Fab work.
Mine seems peppy enough... I’m fixing Toyota’s mistakes and seeing how it goes; figure $2,000 into what I have vs $2,000 for more headaches? Right now I’m topping out at around 105 with just a timing adjustment and getting rid of some of the emissions crap. Next will be getting rid of the EGR, changing the intake, and slapping in a set of Doug Thorley headers to get rid of the crossover pipe and see what happens
Lol; I’ve heard the horror stories.head gaskets don’t last, no hp,gas guzzlers... Honestly I was going to do an engine swap as well, but this one pulls strong, so I figure I’ll at least give it a chance
The 3.0 isn't a bad engine, just wasn't executed properly. I've found rebuilding the thing works out quite well. make sure you get a shop that knows what they're doing as the block, heads and lower manifold will need to be cut. Once it's done you'll be surprised at the output and longevity.
