Here she sits outside my apartment. Not too shabby I think. Delayed my sub at jimmy johns because the dude couldn't stop drooling over the engine. A little part of my wants to leave the hood off...

The front main seal had a small tear in it. I'm assuming I didn't oil it well enough or it dried out while the engine sat. It was obviously dry at some point.

Woops, didn't realize those people were there. She's a bit too skinny for my tastes anyway.

Front main seal is leaking again... I got to figure out what's going on. I even have a repair sleeve on the crank pully.

Get some calipers. Measure the OD of your crank pulley shaft, and the ID of the seals your buying. Compare the 2. The crank should be bigger by a bit.

And what method are you using to install it?

I did a test fit of the seal the the crank pully and it seems to fit well. I yanked the old one and used a dead blow to tap in the new one. Oiled the pully and the seal and installed the pully. Used a racket to spin the motor to try to seat it. The fact that its doing it 30-70 miles down the road is what's confusing.

Main seal is fixed for now. Bone dry after a 20 mile drive, we'll just see where it goes.

I'm starting to get into the throttle a bit now and it's obvious that it needs to breath a little better. Looking to find a header, high flow cat and a flowmaster 50 series muffler. Something with a little tone but nothing that drones like crazy on the highway. The stocker exhaust on it now sounds kinda cool but just not "flowy" enough.

I'll post pictures tomorrow of it with the hood on and spaced up a bit. Makes the front end look a little beefier.

I've got about 1100 miles on the rebuild now and so far so good. Seems to be opening up a bit. 700 or so miles on the front main seal and not a drop so far bit I have a small leak at the top of the timing cover, just something ill have to wipe down occasionally. Radiator is leaking for some reason so I'm looking into an aluminum radiator but not sure of the quality of the one I found, its only $80...

    Anyway, pictures.

Looks killer dude. Loving the back glass. I wanna do gold leaf on my tailgate. Might have to pick your brain sometime. Today I was thinking about your hood and how I should copy the idea onto something and make it a woody lol. Anyways keep posting lots of pics. We dig 'em.

    Love the wheel choice.

It might be buried somewhere in the thread, But what are your wheel/tire specs?

Damn the luck. Good size screw in the inside shoulder of one of my tires. Why did I have to get a pretty rare/expensive size? Rocking studded snows on the rear until I can find a tire that's reasonably priced.

    I'm curious too...

I don't have any added weight in the back, besides a few sandbags for wet weather traction and my air shocks ride super stiff!

Before I got them I heard you could roll with them aired out and they ride nice, but mine rides worse...so I'm rolling with 5-10psi for now.

They do improve handling a bit tho....dd is killing me tho on these sh*tty cali highways!

Mine are Gabriel air shocks for stock applications since I'm only running a block in the rear and the shock mounting is the same as stock. They ride fairly well, with nothing on or in the bed I run 10 psi but with the bed fully loaded with the topper I ran 150 psi and it worked perfectly. Its still a truck with leaf springs so its going to be fairly stiff. They were designed to work and carry heavy-ish loads.

My local tire shop quoted me $115 for a single tire but I just found them for $110 for 2 new on ebay. Should see them within the week. They're a brand I've never heard of but if they're round, black, and hold air, I'll be happy.
