Been looking for a donor truck for a project I am planning, and found it. I like it because it's mostly set up for what I want to do. The problem is it's in Miami, and I am in Kalifornia. The guy selling it says it has low compression on #4 cylinder (didn't say how low) of the 3VZE Auto. Once I get the truck to Kalifornia the engine wouldn't matter, it will eventually get yanked for the project.

So, would you drive cross country in a truck with one cyclinder not working 100%?

    Thanks in advance.....

It would be story for sure. i like the idea of an interesting road trip but I could do with out the cost of a tow truck and paying someone to fix an engine I won't want 2 months after buying it. anybody with a 3VZE ever had low compression #'s to share their opinion, and weigh in on the matter?

Oh, whatever. Maybe up in the Northeast where they salt the roads, or if the owner lives right on the beach (not likely, if you own property on the beach, you probably drive a Beamer, or a Porshe).

Anyway, I owned a 4runner with low compression on the #1 cylinder. I would've made the trip, in fact I drove mine from Maryland to the East Coast of Central Florida. But, make sure to have the right tools with you just in case. And a chase vehicle would be nice.

did the homework and it will cost over 500 dollars. factor in the flight to miami from CA and meals, a night or two in a motel and your looking at around 1k in travel. however shipping it I have found rates as low as 780 dollars. looks like shipping would be the way to go.......

    probably best to ship it...

except you may really want to see it before buying it

Got burned myself that way once...

As far as making the trip with a bad cylinder...

hell ya it'll make it.... dam its a Toyota remember!!!

Drove my 85 22r 4x4 3 hours with white exhaust after the head gasket went
    80+ mph the whole way

my 91 3vze had a low comp cylinder for months... burned #3 valve... drove it everyday
