The little elbow on the bottom side? There is supposed to be a bendable looking metal hose that goes to the heat shield on the factory exhaust manifold

Ohhh ok. Makes sense now. Brought it to a smog shop today and he said it goes to the stock exhaust manifold. And my manifold didnt have anything like that. Bought the truck without the heat shield. Thanks a lot jetas!

No problem. Looks like you have an aftermarket header in there. I think you can pull the intake box and cut that sh;t off and rivet in a flat panel. And make it dissappear

Yea picked up a hooker header. Maybe if I make that disappear and bring the truck to a different shop they wont know that something is suppose to be there heh. I plan on gettin a weber anyways and eliminating all that garbage.

Give it a shot. Most shops around here just take a quick peak and call it done on the visual. Aslong as the sniffer comes up clean your good

I just picked up a weber. My truck is a 72 second gen hilux. So no smog for me. Still working on getting it running though. The previous owner did a number on the wiring after the 20R swap

20R and 22R have more parts available and were around alot longer than the 18R.

I saw your other thread about "non-visual smog shops". If you go to a by-the-book smog shop, your truck will fail the visual without that tube (yeah, it's stupid). Smog legal headers will have a tube that goes into the middle of the four header tubes to which you can connect the flapper valve with a tube. Also, I think you can buy (or make) a bolt-on heater tube kit that lets you reconnect that tube. But if your header is smog legal it should already have that.
