I've had this leak for a while, and now i want to fix it...at first i thought it was leaking from the back reservoir grommet, but now it looks like its leaking from the back? what do you guys think? should i buy a rebuild kit or a new MC? If i buy a new MC i'm going OEM, this is my 3rd MC!!

I only buy OEM master cylinders, especially for something as critical as the brakes. I've also had enough bad experiences with cheap rebuilt aftermarket units to learn my lessonn.

id take the 4 bolts off to unbolt the master (you can do it without touching the lines) and pull it out enuff to make sure the cylinder is actually holding pressure and not leaking out its a$$ into your booster.

if thats not it, you either have a nut at the bottom of the resivour or some other way to tighten it down, or the O ring is bad.

my 78 leaked into the booster to the point that it filled it, then drained onto my feet. lol. so i put a fresh condition looking one from a junkyard 81. master and booster. but, yes, if they are leaking from the cups tighten the nut or put an O ring in the base.

that seal is for vacuum not fluid.

there is a O ring inside the master with a snap ring on top, prolly had a bad rebuilt one.

if you still have the OEM master its better to hone it and rebuild it, then get a refurb.

ahhh I do have a vacuum leak that i never found, so thats probably it!! THX!!

i'm going to get a brand new OEM one this time..i heard the metal is too thin to hone them out..Does anyone know which part# or model pickup to get one from that has the 1" bore? I believe mine is the smaller version either 3/4 or 15/16

getting ready to buy a new MC this is the cheapest i have found for OEM Aisin, but there are two different MCs here that are coming up for my truck, I tried looking up the part# to check the bore size and had no luck, contacted the seller and they do not know, I can't tell what the difference is here except one is blue and one is not...can anyone help me out? oh and there is a $20 difference between the two
