not quite sure... And to answer the OP... The legit Dual cabs? Built in Japan. The custom dual cabs? wherever whoever touched it. lol
the 78 custom cab I had for a bit had a really faded sticker from some RV company in California that did it
My father-in-law bought one of the toyota "crew" cab duallies brand new in 78. He passed away in 2010 but he gave it to my son. We were talking and he wanted to do some custom work like put a newer front clip, steel fenders like from a chevy stepside, drop in a 4.3 v6 and stuff like that. It is that "lovely" yellow-green. The engine and tranny aren't original. It is a 21R-U and a 5 spd. We have the stock 1 piece "dual" rear rims, and a set of custom made actual dually rims. Like some of you have said it was done in California at a shop. I will be picking up the truck soon from my mother-in-laws soon and will get some pix. I am hoping that i can get some useful help from you all on where i can get liek the rear fenders and such.
1981 toyota Is there anyone out there that might have any imformation about this truck i just bought ? Like who built it and where ?
This is my custom cab. Its not a dually yet. I've been searching for a dually axle for the 84-88 body style for a while. I know where there is one from a 75 (used to be a motor home) but that axle isnt wide enough, it wasnt a full floater, and the guy wanted too much. There isnt much info about the custom cabs on the internet.
Well jaenese drives are always best in performance because of their quality and body structure. Anyhow good photos you shared. I love the last one in black color. here are few more hope you like.
You can get the crew cabs from Aus where I am. Dually axles are pretty common and the flares would be custom in Aus
the photo is from possibly mount panorama bathurst australia and the mystery car is a holden torana LX OR LH 308ci V8, this is the only photo i have ever seen of a toyota stout with duel rear wheels. the stout is a RK101 1968-1978 and i assume the rear axle would be out of a toyota dyna or coaster and would near bolt in without any modification. the second photo is of a duel cab or crew cab stout, of which were built as a factory option from late 1961-1978 in this style.

Payloads for the Toyota HiLux The hilux has always been sold as a one tonne payload in Australia, so was the rk43 stout on 13" tyres and one tonne metric 1, 000kg is a greater mass than one ton imperial
I'm doing a extended dually conversion soon with my 94. Just collecting parts and good info. I'm going a Dyna 300 series as it is a 5x108 on a 17.5 rim. For those that want to know, its a $24,000 job to everything done correctly and legalised for QLD roads. Big shout out to whysmee for the info. If you want to see a dually stout there is one local to me. I never noticed until I saw you pic but I'd be happy to show you it
