I would make speaker pods for your doors.

    They should be 4" speakers

Make speaker pods or atleast some 2-3" risers and mount them in the doors

Cut holes in the door then make some speaker pods. If not make some in the kicks. That would sound wayyy better then the ones in the stock spot.

Mine in the dash were 4 or 4.5 inch. I had two 6x9s in boxes from walmart behind the seat that were fantasic. Otherwise youre cutting holes in say the doors.

I have 8 total two in the dash, two in the kicks, two in the little slit of door right under the seat belt thingy, and two shallow subs behind the seats.

The oem location speaker in the dash are 4" but because they only have 2 screw holes, manufactures at one time made a special 4" speaker called a 4T (T for Toyota), it was basically the same speaker with different mounting holes, although i have placed regulare 4" speakers as well as crammed 4x6's in these locations before. Sound quality is crappy because the speakers fire toward the seat and not towards the passengers ears. In my 86 yota i removed the plastic factory kick panels, modified them, built them up with mdf and wrapped them, so that they housed a set of 5.25" crossfire bmf components, way way way better sound than having just the 4" speakers.

i wouldnt want to make holes on my door panels.
esspecially if they where in good condition to.
i would make speaker pods for the kick panel instead.

The kick pods are the plastic pieces that are in the floorboard, but on the side walls, ie. under the dash, down and to the right of the glove box, then symetrically on the opposing side of the vechicle, you have to be conscious of placing speakers there, or else they will get damaged.

Yea nice but where would u put your feet if you had firewall tubs too.
It's good to see that the tweeter is next to the speaker. I don't think it is good for the tweeter to be mounted more than a couple inches away.

So is this an extra cab we are talking about? b/c I had some JBL GTO series 10inch subs and they worked in my 88 extra cab. I made these boxes that were fully enclosed (no ports). I looked on the specs and they were the smallest I could make them. I think they were about 1ftx1ftx1ft box. I mounted them in the back on an angle facing forward and they actually fit perfect. And boy did it ever sound loud and bass-eeee.
And inside the box I had to shred up some cloth strips according to specs.

yea components are best to be on the same plane for imaging, and man i'm surprised you had a box that measured 1x1x1 and it sounded good, usually a perfectly cubed box is not good acoustically for subwoofer dynamics.

yea if you ever want to, since the stock oem toyota 4T speakers are free-air, you can pull the covers and shove 4x6's in the grill and they hold snug and play free-air also, although it angles the speakers downwards which is unfavorable. When i get alot further on my truck, i plan to build an entire fiberglass dash, i am aiming for atleast 3-4 pair of components in the yota, one or two pair being molded into the top of the dash, possible a pair or two in the doors, i figure since imaging is not very easy in our truck i may as well flood the cab, ha.

    Speakers

If you have not found a place for them. i have bomber seats in my 85 single cab witha custom box i built with four 6 1/2 kicker speakers and two 10 inch kicker subs. along with kicker 3 1/2 inch speakers in the dash and they also make kick panels that im going to purchase to put 2 more kicker 6 1/2 speakers. a good place to buy that stuff is on sonicelectronix.com. if i were you i would not cut holes in the door.
