Hey guys not sure if this is the right place to post this or not (sorry if it isn't) I just got myself an 88 single cab with the efi 2.4L and an automatic tranny. I know these old yotas are know for lasting forever but my question is:

What things should I look for first thing when getting one of these puppies with 200,000 miles on it?

    Thanks in advance.

Make sure it's normal maintenance is up to date and keep your ears open for the sound of a light rattle coming from the front of the engine. The plastic timing chain guides have a tendency to break allowing the chain to rub the inside of the timing cover and rattle as it chews into a cooling port.

Yeah, I've been told in the past as long as you stay on top of the timing chain these little trucks last forever. Alright thanks man.

I'd test drive it to make sure it runs ok. Check all fluids after running the engine or test driving it. They're pretty easy to work on if you have some basic knowledge and a manual.

Alright thanks. I already drove the truck. Ran great no strange noises. Fluids seemed good. it only has cosmetic issues that I know of and I can work fiberglass and bando. Thanks for the input man.
