which one of these mufflers sound better in your opinion?.And which one you think is better in performance? I've got a magnaflow right now because everyone's got flowmaster 40 series down here and didnt want it sounding like every other truck around.
Magnaflow was the 2nd thing I did to my old truck, was better than stock sure. then went Flowmaster, louder, better sound and ran better. Really sounded good after the header course it was a 77 so no cat from the factory
magnaflow all the way. used to do flowmasters up till i tried a magnaflow and never went back to flowmasters again sound clip....... (4-1 header, catless, 2.5 inch pipe) YouTube - dorifto rev.MOV‏
Flowmaster 40(original not the delta flow crap) on the Integra I had and on the BMW I own now. I prefer the sound.
I'm with SD. I have a Magnaflow on my truck also, and people like the sound. Deep too. Also, the Magnaflow isn't a chambered design, it's straight through, free flowing. I have a offset entry to offset exit type, Magnaflow, so it dampens the sound a bit.
neither, i love my dynomax ultra flo, been on my truck for over 10 years no issues sounds great, no ricey or obnoxiously loud
i have a flowmaster 40 series with 2 1/2 inch pipes no cat and it sounds really good used to have a cherry bomb it sounded nice but i like a loud exausht lolz but if your looking for a super mellow sound not too loud but just right go with a magnaflow
I have magnaflow on both my yota and the tone and performance it great. On my 92 with the throley header and magnaflow nice tone and no noise in the cab at cruise speed.
I've only owned Magnaflow and Thrush. I dnt like the sound of Flowmaster too much. That and everyone and their grama runs flowmaster around here. Il probably switch the thrush glasspack to a magnaflow later on cuz the glasspack is FCKIN LOUD!
Sounds like ill use magnaflow with 2 1/4 inch piping no cat and a header.I emailed lcengineering and asked what size piping I should use and they said use 2 1/4 piping and 2 1/4 in/out muffler because 2 1/2 piping will cause you to lose torque with a lightly modified 22r like mine.
I jus put on my friends muffler from his 1990 civic hatch it sounds like his car but isnt ricey. Its very clean and mellow like my old magnaflow.
I was wondering the same thing for my '85 pick up. Will cams, pistons, valves make it sound less ricey? I know the thing will never sound like a V8, but i really don't want a super charged weed eater sound under my truck. Did the 85's come with a cat? I don't remember if Louisiana does emissions testing on these old trucks because mine has been parked for so long, but don't want to redo the exhaust and fail emissions if they do. Also: What is a good header to go with? I am fully building the motor + supercharger and I think 2 1/4" header is just too small, but I could be wrong.
