Found a a/c system on craigslist for $250, it came out of a 85 4runner. Jus wondering if its a good price and how difficult it would be to install it. Also if you guys know exactly what components you need in the system so I dont end up buying an incomplete system
you need: Condenser, evaporator, dryer, compressor, all the hoses. ac idle up vsv, for a 22R you will need the idle up diaphragm as well and the compressor mounting bracket with the bolts as well.
FWIW I'm not running the idle up equipment. Mine didn't work anymore so it may not be entirely necessary.
The guy said it has the condensor, compressor, blower, evaporator, and all the vents and hoses. And he said the compressor and blower was working good, but idk a theing about a/c and its components
If you ever have to buy parts remember to say its a 4runner. Not pick up. 4runner ac fits but is different from the receiver and dryer to the condenser..the condenser has a pre cooler for 4runners. Good luck
Does your truck has the blower motor and stuff, I've rebuild my ac in my lil red yota a few years back,
I found a site that sells the complete kit for about $1000. Good thing about the kit is that its a 134r setup. No retro fit. But for $250 I would buy it. I would check the condition of everything.
It's AMA Automotive Air Conditioning Parts & Equipment - Compressors Condensers Accumulators Expansion Va I'm not a spammer, just a lurker with a 4Runner. I personally am going to go with used parts. Don't forget you need the AC on/off switch and there's a vent under the steering wheel that is not present in the none AC vehicle. You are also supposed to replace the dryer anytime you open (or remove) the system.
By the way, there's pretty good AC info in the FSM for the '88 4Runner. Are there links on here for the FSM (Factory Service Manual) online? It's hosted by NCTORA.
Can any one list what all is need for a complete A/C system. Gonna see if I can piece together a system
There's a few universal ac company's out there there mainly used in the hot rod and classics cars mounts below the dash all in a box about the size of a VCR a few that I've checked out had very small compressor which was kinda cool . It's not cheap though thousand and up easy I'd stick with with Toyota stuff and peace together a kit
Yeah Im going to try to find one from another truck, but if I cant find a complete then I'll take from numerous trucks But need to know everything I need...
