Hey there peeps I found on you tube a 79 Toyota pickup slammed in blue with a lot of mods to the engine, and I noticed his ignition coil located on top of the left hand fender is not there but his distributor is upgraded. any one know how can I eliminate the coil and just have the distributor? the namr on youtube is Slammed 79' Toyota Hilux Mini Truck V2

Looks like he is running a DUI distributor, try looking into that.

Speaking from experience, they are worth every penny, but only if you have an engine worth it.

If you aren't at least mildly built I would just run maybe an upgraded coil and spend the money else where. They build them based on everything from comp ratio and cam specs to how you plan on driving it.

And lastly, it's not removing the coil, it's just in the cap. :waytogo:

To really reap the benefit of that dizzy you'll need more than just a weber, cam and header.

Mine was a laser block 22r, bored .040" over, spec'd to be right at 11:1 compression, full port work and large valves, custom ground cam, header and weber. I planned on going with a 20r head but sold the truck..

DUI is a great product and works very well in a stock engine. Not only do you end up deleting the stock coil, ignitor (expensive to replace $$$)and distributor, the DUI uses over the counter GM HEI components.
You can save some $ if you buy a set of 4 cylinder GM HEI ignition wires rather than the ones DUI will sell you.

You just need the distributor and plug wires. I bought the right tach/power plug from napa for like $5.. then just wire it in.

And to clarify what I meant earlier, HEI is great for any engine, but DUI builds them to spec from info you provide.
