    no really, i did.

    bout 10mm in diameter.

i was doing about 65mph and pulled over immediately, got towed home.

this is in the wheeler btw

seriously hoping i pull it out with a magnet and no harm no foul. but i know better.

it sounded like a bolt had come loose and the fan was hitting it. a very loud constant ticking noise, that went up and down with the eng speed.

no loss in power, smoke or other signs of badness. only ran for about 1min like that, was doing about 3k when it happened.

the 10mm washer was on a 8mm bolt holding the air cleaner on the weber. the washer is awol but the bolt reported for duty.

i think the vibration from the solid mount may have worked it loose.:verdict_in:

    im am SOOOOOOOOOOOO F'n lucky.

im buying a lotto ticket later, after the new headgasket is on :D

i pulled all the plugs, could see the #2 intake valve and it looked like it had some scoring/contact/ shiny bits from impact.

fished around for a while with a magnetic probe and couldnt find anything. so i cranked the motor over to bring up the piston. still nothing then the motor bound up, so i stopped.

    and immediatly pulled the head.

turns out i was wrong, it was in #3. and it looks like nothing but superfisial scoring on the head and piston top.

had the head off in 20min this time

now its back together, and i just was racing around trying to find a party like a teenager in it and mostly keeping up with a pretty new honda, well not really, but i was doing a whole hell of a lot better then a 92 V6 4rnr and a 91 pathfinder. in total i did 50 mph with more power then this truck has ever had...

i think its my new method of valve adjustment, i do believe im getting the hang of it. but what ever, i cant F'n belive i sucked a washer and the next day im doing 80 on the freeway no problem.

Awesome! A couple of nicks there, but it mostly just knocked the carbon loose. On a LASRE engine, it might have been worse....

ya the more i think about it the more i think maybe the timing chain or dizzy was off a tooth since i put this motor in. i did re-index both of them, and nothing else i did could explain the dramatic increase in power.

and i did leave the intake n carb bolted up, made it a bit heavier but saved a lil time.

took it out today for a REAL good flogging (workin on the vid now) and it passed with flying colors, and only a few puffs of smoke after some extreme skinny pedal, but it did that before.

meh, ive only had these tires about 2mo if that. just my fronts are mostly bald, and ive been wheelin bald tires pretty much all the time. that vid doesnt do the mud justice out there. everything was slicker then snake snot, no matter what tires you had.
