New member here. So right now I've got a 1990 2wd standard cab. Bone stock. I've been reading for a while and have been trying to plan my build. Curious if this guy is on here? http://youtu.be/QCHuTJfQ7OY I'll be running these crager wheels. Cragar Series 397 Black Soft 8 : Cragar Wheels His fitment is almost exactly what I'm looking to acheive. If you guys could point me in the best direction that would be rad. No plans for bags.... Hoping this is the right thread, it's a mix of two subjects so forgive me )
Wide wheels, low offset, and a stretched tire. I know stretched tires a kind of frowned upon, just dont try to stretch a 205 on a 9" rim. There are offset calculators online. Find a decent one, input your current size and wheel specs and change the numbers around so you get the amount of poke youre after, thats what il probably do. I want my wheels close to the fender but not sticking out too far
That's a fact. The whole "fitment" trend is a sad joke. Very few cars are actually meant to perform they are just supposed to look good to other mouth breathers that are into the same thing. I read up on where it a started from years back. Apparently it was started in Japan so they could run wider wheels without having the tires stick out which is against the law and by running narrow tires the underpowered rigs could manage to drift.
Some cars look great with wide wheels and wide TIRES. Stretched tires on any size wheel looks terrible, just reminds me of low-riders with hydraulics. Coming from the Subaru world, I agree it is a stupid trend and usually the result of a pissing contest. (my STi in my avatar was pretty functional. 18x9.5 255/35/18. -2.5 camber. The camber wear wasnt worth it) It will be a headache trying to make an 89-95 pickup look like that Hilux. Especially without bags and some sort of 4x4 fender or flare.
Spending a lot of money just to have camber eat your tires up quickly is a no brainer. Doesn't matter how cool it looks to some, when you keep on flipping you tires and keep on buying new tires it will get old. If you don't check your tires when they are bald on the inside, tires blow and good luck.
Step 1: Find 4wd fenders Step 2: Lower the **** out of your truck Step 3: buy the rims 9 inches and above with 0 offset Step 4: Look around from different tire sizes Step 5: if you mess up of the size pull the **** out of your fenders Step 6: Got yourself a "Stanced out" truck Yo!
It's the whole stance fad. Then again most of its followers don't give a damn about vehicular safety. Knockoff gravity cast wheels and stretched chinese tires galore, it's a pissing contest and embracing the lack of control and safety. Sure, they don't go fast, but please don't drive near my family on road, especially on a highway. I used to like stretched tires. When I was 16. So now I have 10.5's with 295's and a Supra lol
Trust me, a lowered 2wd with some thick meaty tires looks so much hotter. Like a very fit, athletic girl who can move some real curves.
Good lord, all the hate on flush fitment haha! I guess I didn't realize there was on one way to modify a truck. Sure it's not for everyone but what's the fun in being like everyone else.
Show up to an auto x event with prius tires on 15x10's and let me know how it works out for you. There are lots of ways to build rigs and a couple ways that are stupid. "Hellaflush" tops the list of worthlessness.
Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize everyone had to build their truck according to those events. And actually I have shown up to an event with stretched tires I was in a Subaru Impreza and I smoked a few people in STIs. Placed near the top of my entire class. Cheers man
I roll on stretched tires for shows 215/35/18's on 10.5 and 295/45/18 dunlop's on 10.5 for my daily life. Tire fitment has a time and a place different events call for different fitment, I got to a truck show I throw on the intro wheels, I go to a import show I throw on the WORK's or the O.Z.'s , I go to a autocross event I put on the BASSET'S Variety! the spice of life .
