There's always more to a high power swap than just trans mount and driveline. Rear end and brakes should be upgraded to match. As well as make it sit lower and handle well. For the cost you could have aluminum V8s like vette motors or 1UZs. I can't see having all that money into a swap just to have it say Honda on top.
Size to weight, HP per Liter, no domestic engine will come close to the imports. Sorry, not when there are I4 or I6 making 800-1200 HP
IF I put a Honda motor in something, it would be that j30/35/37 series v6. I've worked on soo many of them, it's second nature. Plus I've always been impressed with the power of the later motors. Ever drive a 3.2 cl type s with a manual. That thing boogies! I bet money it's faster than a f20 s2000 by a long shot.
Yea the type s cl rolls out quick those cars are very capable machines seen them chew up 4.6 gt mustangs .to bad they didn't make a lot more of the six speed versions
Just caught wind of this. Getting the engine itself dirt cheap would be key, otherwise I gotta vote V8 also. Yeah, there MAY be xyz 4cyl engines making 400-700hp but a 5.3 ls engine with the stock steel manifolds will make enough torque off the line in these minis to make most forget about spending thousands on acquiring, modding, boosting and managing an engine that needs lots of help to have the advantage. I would say the biggest advantage the smaller engines have is weight just because it's a truck and a small truck that could use some weight over the rear axles. Someone posted a pic somewhere but an LS1 is noticeably smaller than a 1uz and has a ton of swap aftermarket support. Why yes...yes I do...all the time. lol
I did mean to add, the F20 is something that did run across my mind. Would love to see it done but I think it would be more of a cool factor than value/performance in my book.
i think thats what the OP is really going for. he didnt mention it being a 1320 project or drift missile.
been too long, finally got to going about this build. motor being mocked up will be posting pics soon
