1976 Toyota hilux 20r with weber 32/36 carb and electric choke
    Has electric fuel pump too

The problem just recently arose. If I drive it more then 15 minutes I get a backfire that'll send people running. I'm not sure where to begin to fix the problem as I've been told different things from many different people

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Out of the intake or the exhaust?

On the throttle or immediately after you let off?

Exhaust. After I shut the truck down. Never does it while the truck is running

Sounds like an issue with the fuel cut solenoid. How did you wire it when you converted to the Weber?

There isn't one on any weber I've dealt with. I'm guessing the carb runs a bit rich and now that weather is getting warmer it's telling you.

Often you will get a kit that only has a primary jet installed where the solenoid should be.

RedLine and LCE both sell them if its missing. Like a $25 part. Easy fix.

Could also be a blown fuse if it has one but it's not jumped to the choke wire.

All that said, I agree with you that it is probably a bit too rich.

I'd never seen that solenoid for a weber. I just tune them to not have issues and not need such nonsense. :D

My progressive was doing the same thing. Adjust the IDLE MIXTURE screw to a leaner setting! No problems after that. ....Mine still runs a little rich tho  ;)

Were all good now. Not sure what to call it but there is a double ball connected on the throttle that was popped off not sure what its for but hey it stopped the backfire
