I have an axle out of a 83 toyota pickup with auto trans. Would this fit in my 88 toyota pickup.5spd Without any mods the truck was originally a 4spd and still has the 4spd axle..

the only affect the transmission has on the axle is gearing, so it will bolt in but may have a different gear ratio. Note that the 2wd axles are different than the 4x4 ones though, they will NOT bolt in.

 

83 axle is bit more narrow thatn the 84-88 axle isnt it?

 

yes for the 4x4's it is, i don't think the 2wd's changed though. I'm still not sure if the OP is talking about a 2wd or 4x4 axle.
