you think a supercharger is loud... try straight cut gear driven 383...jesus hell! sounds like something bad is happening in the engine bay, and there is
Oh I know, probably sounds like the straight cut gear roots blower under my hood, a distinct whine of its own
how hard to wire are a/f gauges? and how spendy? im thinking about adding one when i put a few extras in. couple down below and a few in the center is the plan. and a pillar area tach. nook, post some of your stuff for people to drool over.
The A/F wiring is fairly simply, ground, hot, lighting, and 02 sensor, on most, the narrow band gauges are cheap, under 50 bucks for some, but not overly accurate, a wide band gauge is better but spendy, couple hundred bucks for a good one. I"ll try to get some pictures up, my winter wiring project is all done and back together, working great so far
sweet. i didnt know they were so cheap now. i dont care if its super accurate, its more just for helping tune out a few lean stumbles i think i have. it could be ignition or timing too.
im shocked you dont have a digital readout shift knob saying what gear you are in. there, now you have a new project idea. haha.
btw im on the hunt for an inclimometer from a 4runner if anybody spots on for cheap. and i need a cheapie vacuum gauge to make a joke idea me and sho have. "the butt dyno 2010, now with analog readout!" ill just relabel a vac gauge with the lawn mower rabbit/turtle thing. lol.
Id stay away from a narrow band o2 sensor a/f ratio, whatever u wanna call it. They are so unaccurate they are unusable, just idling they go from lean to rich and back again, a wide band is the way to go if you actually wanna tune anything good, aem makes the cheapest I believe and they are pretty good. Ive been meaning to get one for my 300zx. If you got one and tuned it for gas mileage, it might pay for it self. I dont know though. Ive been wanting to do a tach in my truck, probably just going to make a tab and mount it under the dash hanging down so i dont have to modify anything. and I want a vacuum gauge, I like watching that in my 300zx, which is also a boost gauge but I dont need that part on this truck. Whats a R series engine suppose to idle at? mine is 18r
I would say Tach, Oil Pressure, Water Temperature and Wideband Air / Fuel Ratio in order of importance. As stated earlier, the Tach has many uses, the Oil Pressure because of engine protection and ditto for the Water Temperature. The Wideband Air / Fuel Ratio for engine protection (lean condition for carb or FI engines), tuning and fuel economy.
