hey im chasing some information into a 3RZFE 2.7L engine conversion into an 81 shorty 2WD will there be enough room between the bonnet and the engine cross member? also can anyone see any other problems i may run into? any help will be great leroy
Eventually i'll build my truck soo i can drop in, plug and play with these motors... 22RTE Custom setup 2JZ-GE ITB's hot NA setup 2JZ-GTE setup for great TurboI6 response 3UZ-FTE with upgraded internals 3RZ-FE for AutoX 5VZ-FE for offroad torque and ****s The list continues, but all will be easily dropped in, bolted on and off, each with their own 6spd manuals, and electronics are easily plugged in like a PS2 controller and a PS2. Interchangeability OWNAGE! Kidding... or have a different truck with a different setup with the corresponding motor for its job!
As far as my research has gone the 1uz is way better in terms of internals than the 3uz (I almost had one). Just FYI
Actually the 3RZ is from 4 Runners pre 2001 and Tacoma Pre Runner and 4x4 models only. They came with 151 BHP stock. 2.7 liter 4 cyl from years 95.5-04. They are tall motors with a low hanging exhaust, the height issue might need a cowl hood.
Oh i definitely know that. I would use 1UZ connecting rods, with forged 3UZ pistons, and the 3UZ crank. that choice provides the 3UZ displacement with the 1UZ strength.
well over the last few days i did the conversion into my 2WD 4x2 81 hilux it fitted just... keeping the stock cross member, rear sump and only removing the sway bar so a custom one is needed. it came to within 1cm of the bonnett. hopefully that is legal? the engine mounts are still on top of the chassis just as they were factory. i will post up a members rides thread some time soon. kind regards leroy
