I am french ( sorry for my english ). I live in the south-west near Bordeaux ( the greatest red wine ..... you know ).

I want to present my minis to you before asking you some questions which will help me in my project.

First, my pick-up is a Volkwagen...... I know, I know, it a Toyota forum.

I don't know if the Taro has been sold in the US.

For those who don't know the VW Taro, , it a Toyota pick-up whith VW logo. The only two VW parts on my car are the two logo on the front and on the back.

I made a 4" lowering block for the rear et adjusted the torsion bars in the front.

For this Toywagen project, the next step is a 4Runner convertion for the front ( bumper, grill ....) and the big part: a body drop. I think it will be the first body drop on this kind of truck in France. That's why I need your help.

See you next time for some questions.

That's awesome. I had no Idea those existed. The 4-runner front end conversion should be pretty strait forward assuming you are working with a similar year 4-runner. I can't help you on the body drop.

I wouls like to get some VW emblems and put them on my Toyota just to screw with all the crazy americans!

    Welcome to TM!

That is crazy! A Toyota with a VW emblem.

With the 4runner conversion, the only thing that you have to do (I believe) is bore out the holes a little larger to fit the 4runner headlights.

    I knew they existed...

I was reading the wikipedia on Toyota Hilux/Pickup, when I noticed there was a link in the fifth gen pickup for a VW Taro...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Taro

I thought it was a pretty neat find, since I like VW's too (used to own an '83 Scirocco!).

Looks sharp! Good luck with it!

truck looks good. nice clean start. anything done to an 89-95 toyota will apply to yours as far as research. and many of the suspension mods done to 84-88s are the same since the suspension is almost identical. good luck and keep us posted.

If that thing is stock, there are a lot more differences that just that!
IE, grill, tailgate, steering wheel, lights on the fenders, clear corners, roll bar behind window, roll pan.
Whats with the light on the roll pan on those?? The one under the tailgate.
As in what is it for?

    Looks cool tho! Nice start!

Thank for all your comments and the little words in french. MERCI.

The Taro have been sold only in Europe ( as far as I know ) . They have 2 or 4 WD.
For the 2WD, there is only long bed, no short.
The hilux have been sold only in 4WD, here.

There is some differences with the toyota you have in USA. Because our laws for car are differents. But the Hilux we have in Europe has the same differences. You can find the lights on the fenders and the clear corners at the Toyota dealer.
The light on the roll pan is a fog light. Every car in Europe have one on the back. It's a light that is brighter than the normal tail light to be better seen in the fog.

There is not many people interested by the Taro in Europe, because people don't know that it's a Toyota, that there is performence parts in USA for this car and they don't know the cool things that we can do with it. I'm almost sure that I'am the first to do a mini truck with a Taro in France. I have never seen an other even on the Web.

It should look pretty clean after it's done. You could get short bed bedsides and make your own shortbed without that top rail. That'd really throw people off if they weren't available that way. But I love longbeds so I say leave it that way.
