Yo, Doing a manuel to power steering conversion. Need 3 row crank pulley. anyone got one? PM me if you do. PS got everything for about $80. Hope everything works. PSS dude gave me single glass rear window last night for $$$free.99$$$ installed same night. Ride looks sweett!!!
there are 4 bolts that hold the "extra" pulley on. ALL pulleys are tapped for this pulley. make sure you clean the threads on your old pulley before you bolt on the PS pulley add on. and ANY 20r, 22r, 22re PS pulley will bolt up to any pulley. by just doing the bolts you dont have to take off the main pulley bolt, which is on there with 110+lbs, or the tightest most likely to make you swear bolt.
ohhhhhhhh........ so that's all i need. so.. how do i post pics on this forum? so all i need to do is get the 4 bolts? where can I get them? is the additional pulley a special pulley? where do I get that? i think i got some pics on. P.S. can someone give me a brief instruction on how to install the PS?
these pics are old. the new single glass is one now. right now i have cranked torsion bars supra rims 3" rear blacks del sol seats amp+sub It's still a work in progress. Still have lots to do within the next few months/weeks.
i cant remember which site i posted it on but search both www.celica-gts.com and www.classic-celica.com for my name and "power steering" if anything i know its covered briefly on classic celica in my "nuff bilt 79 ST" thread, but i did a write up somewhere, its just been a while. if you find it post a link here and ill update it or correct it the jist of it is: find a donor rig of the same year as yours with PS. snag everything from the steering wheel to the pitman arm, pump n crap. then swap your junk out. i have been foiled a couple times on pre-78 yotas. for some reason back then the PS and manual box's had different bolt patterns, but the newer stuff is almost always the same.
So, I was feeling lazy and was going to have my local mechanic install the rest of my power steering. I've already installed the 3rd row pulley and PS bracket. He quoted me $250 for labor. Yikes!!!!! I'll just do it myself, it's cheaper.
invest in a smaller tie rod end puller. it will make it a breeze to seperate the pitman arm from the drag link. or you could use a pickle fork, hit your hand with a hammer a couple times and most likely F up the boot on the pitman arm.
yeah I'll ask just ask the guys at autozone what i should do. I'm still waiting for Salguiiuie whatever his name is to sell my the drop spindles he promised me. as for rims. they're supra 95-96 late model. front 16x8 i'm running 225/45R16 rear 16x9 i'm running 245/45R16 my buddy is running 5-zigen Fnoi10r#$$#% Bronze whatever that model is. front 18x9 245/45ZR18 Toyo T1S rear 18x10 275/55ZR18 Toyo T1R He's got some sweet ass rims on the truck. But I'm thinking about getting these off a guy on Craigslist. Offset is +12. CRAP!!!! post is gone. think he already sold them. Anyways, I'm looking for a 0 Offset.
I'm done. Power steering is in the Yota. Only took me 10 hours. Stupid gearbox didn't line up . I have to drill into my frame in order to bolt on the unit. I also adjusted my idel and cleaned my throttle bodies out. Truck is running great. I found out that my inner front driver tire was trashed. It's ready to pop. Good thing I had a look at it or my ass would have been grass. I'll post up pictures of my ride tomorrow. It's raining is SoCal.
good luck. i dunno your name, but i shall refer to you as Toyo. lol other than that your truck looks great overall, great to hear about your progress also. what does steering the non P/S feel like? my truck has all three accessories on it
I wouldn't know what non PS feels like anymore. Those days are long gone now. Truck is a dream to drive now. Also, I don't notice any power loss at all.
