WHERE DID THIS SITE COME FROM!? I've searched and searched (couple years ago) for a Pickup forum and gave up! I'm all worked up now. I LOVE Toyota's and NOT just the trucks either! Any Yota out of the 80's that's RWD is SWEET in my book :D

My name is Ryan, I'm 25 - I live in Bothell, Wa with my awesome wife Katie. I got my first car/Yota when I was 17 cuz it took a LONG time to find the right one! Then there it was randomly one day on the side of the road for sale, I yelled at my friend to "TURN AROUND, DID YOU SEE THAT THING!" Picked it up the next day  It was a WHITE (favorite color) 1985 X-Cab 4x4 22RE. Let the obsession begin! I'll post LOTS of pics of it's evolution even tho it's not a MINI, I'm sure you'll appreciate it.

    Currently I own 8 Toyota's 1986 and older
1985 4x4 My first Yota! <-------Full TubeBuggy RocKrawler
    1985 2WD X-Cab SR5 Turbo <--Drift-Truck?!
    1985 SR5 4Runner 22RE <------Needs Engine
1983 Celica GT 22RE <----------Stealing Engine for 4Runner! Parting out
    1985 Celica GT-S 22RE <-------ForSale
    1986 Cressida 5MGE 5speed! <-DailyDriver
    1973 HiLUX 18R-C 4Speed <----Needs distributor drive gear!?
    1977 Pickup 20R 5speed <------ForSale!

I also drive a 99 Dodge Cummins for hauling the Buggy and non-running Yota's. My wife has a 04 WRX Wagon "Stage 2" and a 94 Exploder on 37's... I HATE FORD!

I'm about to start building a shop (32'x25') but need a little more cash so I'm working on selling some Yota's

Yeah! Definitely come out! We'd love to see those pick ups!

Also, if you need anything for that 77, I know someone who is scrapping a 78 this weekend... let me know ASAP if you have any needs (no engine parts available), and I'll let you know what he has.

    Welcome aboard!

Thanks for all the Welcomes guys! We'll have to meet up soon.

haha yep! I LOVE Craigslist!!! I just picked it up for the engine, was going to put it into the 73 HiLUX but I decided if I'm doing an engine swap, I'd better GO BIG...

So here's the deal. I have that 85 Turbo Yo that I picked up a few years ago with a BHG. I love the good ol' 22RE's and this beast was TURBO. So I got all excited and brought it to the machine shop (T&D Machine in Kenmore Wa) cuz I wanted to do it BIG and have always wanted to build a Turbo project! I spent a stupid amount of money getting the block built and the head WORKED... but that's it! It's been sitting in my parents house ever since! With the right turbo it'll put down 300+ at the street. I need this to happen but gotta get my shop done SO BADLY first.

Now I'm trying to decide wether to drop it into the HiLUX or the 85 X-Cab!?!? I'm 6'2" so leg room is a concern. What about the front suspension? I love fabbin and plan on 4 linking the rear-end but don't know much about IFS. I'm a wheeler so I do straight axle stuff! haha

In the meantime if anyone has experience with turbo's especially turbo'd 22re's hit me up!

    Here's a pic of the 73 Pickup

I dunno... the 73 just seems so ancient that I'd have to redo the front suspension no matter what but could I rock the 85's front susp?! Also the 73 is pretty narrow.... I'm a total newb and want to do this right. The truck will be for DRIFTING!

    Check it!

I gotta post this... My absolute FAVORITE Toyota I've EVER owned!!! (I've had over 40) My friend MADE me sell it to him, would harrass me EVERYDAY till I sold it to him. One day he said name your price and 3000 cash was mine  It only had 80,000 miles got it from my grandpa's good friend the original owner! CRISPEST Yota I've EVER seen. I want it back! :( It's really to nice for anyone tho. Needs to be at a museum or something :D

nice trucks. welcome fellow local :D lol. my dad told me about that same one on CL today for $350.

and my vote is for the oldie. front suspension is coils, and can be set hecka low. although the later one could use aftermarket spindles and stiffer bars. you could also adapt a coilover adjuster sleeve and spring into the 73 front end. i plan to at some point. although a rear 4 link will probably happen before that. im already almost rim deep up front on 14s. lol.
